I have been checking the info out on WADs from a variety of websites. I feel pretty comfortable in knowing that WADs are safe from bricking as long as you don't go messing around in the shop channel or accept a system update. I also know that online for the wii is a series of individually managed web pages and hosts (for games), unlike central servers like XBL. My question is, after installing a WAD, is it still safe to go into the Check Mii Out and Everybody Votes Channel? I assume there is no ticket check for those channels. I just want some reassurance from someone on these boards because my girlfriend and I would like to still use these channels and stay safe even if we start using WADs.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
There is no evidence to suggest that using any of the online channels will cause problems. In fact, I've been keeping track of these forums and I have yet to see a single person "get caught" by Nintendo. You can be sure that when/if Nintendo figures out how to disable these VC games, everyone will be buzzing about it.
Thanks for the info! I pretty much had found the same, but was hoping for some firsthand knowledge. Greatly appreciated!

No you dont need a back up of the game, the original works, I rented a copy. The file you need is the RVL-RZDE-0A-0 USA for a standard NTSC Wii.
I just ran the WAD installer today and it worked great!!! Installed a dozen or so VC.
Here is where I found that Tutorial on it.

Remember to double check the spelling of your folders and .bin files/ .elf files.

Let's try turning of the caps lock b/4 posting. It's like you're shouting - against forum rules.

Just want to add. I got this working, but it took me a while for to get the hack to appear.
I was naming the twighlight hack "data.bin".. took me a while to realise it wasnt reading it because it was already a bin file, so i just had to rename it to plain 'data'. Then it worked, such a simple mistake.

except for the disc channel, you can just drag and drop the channels to any vacant slot by pointing at the channel and holding B+A. If you want to move it to another page, hover for a moment over the left or right arrow on either side of the screen while dragging the channel.

Does anyone know how to create a Wad of a VC game? Say you bought it on a friend's Wii but want to get it onto yours. Can you move it onto an SD card on his/her Wii and then upload it on yours with the Wad loader? Or is there another step in between?

Its alot more complicated than that and involves dumping large parts of the console's memory. Its alot easier to just find the wad online of the game on your friends wii.

There really are very few games online right now, especially for NTSC Wiis. Almost all (or at least a large majority) of the games are PAL. Perhaps there just needs to be a lot more put up, that would increase the chances of getting the games I need to transfer onto my Wii.

I am simply waiting for either more games to be added to the torrent files (especially NTSC, I am a little hesitant to mess with anything from another region, even using freethewads.exe or any other region free program). Either more torrents or a wad maker application, once it gets streamlined enough for the public.

i take no credit, found this:
region free ;) patched trust me :P I KNOW lol used freethewads
how to make a wad region free?
open the RUN option from your start menu...
type CMD in and hit enter....
a DOS like windows should pop up...
(assuming you have downloaded FREETHEWADS from gbatemp)
drag and drop the FREETHEWADS into the DOS LIKE CMD WINDOW ;)
next hit space bar---> 1 TIME
now drag and drop the .WAD file you want to be region free into the DOS LIKE WINDOW and hit enter while the DOSLIKE WINDOW is your "active window" and it will declare the word
FREEEEEEEEEEEEDDOOOOOMMMMMM to confirm your region patch has worked ;)
now all you have left to do is download waninkoko's wad installer and wad uninstaller (used via the twilight hack) and remember IF YOU GO ON WII SHOP CHANNEL UNINSTALL ALL WAD CHANNELS USING WAD UNINSTALLER FIRST so ninty wont see your ticket traces ect :P
BTW i have a NTSC system and a PAL all theese work on both though have small gfx glitches in game sometimes and are in JAPAN's native text :P

So its a bad thing if I have used the WAD installer to put on channels and then log on to the Wii shop channel? Even if I don't download anything or only if I try to buy the same games that I had previously? Or only if I have games from another region?

Hello, all. This may be a stupid question, but I installed some WADs on my WiiKey'd Wii today using the TP hack, and some of them run but a black screen only. When I press the home button on the Wiimote, I can see the game in the background, but off the menu goes back to pure black. Any ideas of how to fix this?
Also, it seems that only the N64 games I have installed work. MarioKart 64, StarFox 64 and Pokemon Snap all work fine, but no SNES or Sega games do.
Thanks in advance

Can someone help me please? I have a 1 Gig SD card that I use in my digital camera. I am running windows Vista, and the only way I can actually pull the card up is if I connect my camera through USB or whatever. It lets me format, but does not give me any option at all as to what kind of format. Whether I try to format through the camera or through vista, it still will not give me an option.
Also, For some reason I can not add a folder or anything to the SD card from my computer. Is it because it is in the camera? I dont understand and I am quite confused. Is there any kind of program I can download that will allow me to access the functions I need to set this up? Or should I just buy an SD card reader and do it easier? I haven't even been able to attempt to fail at this thing yet, but I really want to get it running. Please help :(

I personally would just buy an SD Reader! It goes a lot faster, and you don't have to deal with the Camera.
Also,
For people that are trying to do the TP Hack (NTSC People), if the RVL-RZDE-0A-0 USA doesn't work, then try RVL-RZDE-0A-2 USA. My buddy was having trouble getting the Hack to work, would just freeze! We realized that mine would work with the RVL-RZDE-0A-0, where his would work with the RVL-RZDE-0A-2.

had the same issue, it is the camera, Vista ditects the camera as a camera not as a SDcard thats why you cant format correctly

Everyone just read the small lettering around the inside of the copy of TWP to find out what file you need. The "RZDE" code on the inside of the disc will tell you. If it is a backed up version you obviously wont have it so trial and error seems to be the only method

so... what is being said is that WAD is a way to install VC roms onto your wii...
if nintendo decides to release its update, will it just disable the TP hack or will it brick your wii?
Thanks
