Dear Xbox 360 Afterdawners, My name is Jay Gutter or known to the forums as Raven314
I have put together a list of diffrent methods of fixing the most sick and twisted thing that can happen to an xbox 360 owner. No stupid not the Xbox live banning but the RED RINGS OF DEATH OR THE RED LIGHTS OF DEATH what ever you wanna call it.
I have decided to put this information together to better help people out. I have searched and searched, and came across lots of so called the FIXES. I can not say they all work but what the heck, You don't want your 360 gaming to end without trying some tricks right. Well let's not keep the ranting a raving going on let's just get to the f'n point of this so called list. Below I will have numorous links pointing to fixes that people have posted and tried and gave feedback to. Wait 1st let me also include some tips on avoiding the red lights of death.
How to Avoid the Red Ring of Death
To help prevent a "Red Ring of Death" from happening to your Xbox 360, remember these things:
Avoid putting your Xbox 360 on carpet.
Do not move your Xbox 360 when the power is on.
Keep the console in a well-ventilated area.
Purchase a warranty with your console to plan ahead for technical issues.

yo what the heck why would anyone buy an xbox360 and play with it on the carpet ,and who would play for more than 5 hours without pause , get a life! i mean if these are the only things that can bring up the red ring then it isnt a nightmare as i thought it would be ,anyway thanx for the nice info and the links they were helpful .
I am going to try to make this as simple as possible. This RROD is brought on by two primary manufacturing defects, bad solder connections between the board and the pins of the CPU and/or GPU, and low quality thermal compound between the processors and the heat sinks.
The solder connections were of low quality to begin with then you through in the bad thermal compound and bad heat transfer which causes the processors to get hot enough to take its toll on these week solder points, Guess what. The continuous heating and cooling of these week points can cause them to lose connection. This is in most cases repairable
