i am trying to use a wired connect to my router but the xbox says it could not find the IP Address, how can i get it to find it.

use your computer and find the ip address. Go to start>run>type in cmd> then in comand prompt type in /ipconfig all your info should come up telling you the info needed.

you need to provide a lot more information.

what brand and model is the router?

How does your modem connect to the PC, ethernet or USB? If USB and it has an ethernet port call your ISP and ask them how to switch from USB to ethernet. Once that works tried the 360 again.

Does the router have security settings, if so did you enter those into your Xbox network set up?

Is the Xbox set up as automatic (which works best with routers) rather then manual?

I know this is a dumb one but are you using the right type of ethernet cable (CAT5 crossover cable and not a strait through cable)?

Have you tried cycling the router and modem then testing it?
to do this unplug the router and modem, then plug in the modem and let all your lights go stead, then plug the router back in.

also to bypass the modem just take the cord that goes from the modem to the router out, plug in your cord from the 360 and do this:

Take out the power cable on the modem
turn on your xbox 360 and let it get to the dashboard
now plug the router back in
(i know with my modem this has to be done EVERY time you switch between the 360 and PC, So it is a real pain. Figuring out the modem is a better solution then bypassing it.
