just wanted to know what speeds do ppl have their drives on. cause you dont want a rrod so to prevent that you might want to lower the speed at which the drive operates.

I don't think that lowering the speed of your drive necessarily keeps your 360 from getting rrod. It sure helps to quiet down the drive for most people but lower speeds usually means longer loading times. By the way 8x is the speed I use.

as the poster above me stated, lowering the drive speed will not affect the RROD issue one bit, it has nothing to do with this, but use either 8x or 12x.

i use 8X but i was think of going to 12X cause of oblivion takes for ever to load. i wander if it is the brand of dvdr i used to back up? i used sony (ritek) is it normaly slow to load? i normaly use verbs to back up my games but sony were on sale.

Yea...setting it on 8x, especially on some hard loading games like GTA IV, you'll be there all day...stick with the 12x

The DVD's aren't the problem it's the speed...People use 8x because it's a bit quieter, but the trade off is longer load times...like i said Xbox 360's right off the box use 12x standard i say stick with that for hardcore games...
