I have flashed firmware with ixtreme 1.4 but drive would not read any burned games. After a lot of reading it seems that DVD key was not properly written. Ixtreme after flashing created two files: Was.bin and 59b_16-8.bin in X16S-1672 folder. When both bins were checked with Maximus Toolbox only Was.bin had a key and the other did not. I want to restore my drive back to the original firmware and then reflash with proper DVD key that I have stored.
Question is how to restore by using Maximus Toolbox and flash after.
Can I use as a flash(restore)file Was.bin and then reflash by using 59b_16-8.bin with inserted key. The Was should be the original backuped file and the other ixtreme flashed file.
I will appreciate any help!

Put your drive in modeb
In 360 toolbox
Open your original firmware
In key information you should have your key
Hit tools, direct drive flash, diferential flash restore
Checks in the drop down you have the correct DVD drive
Hit, read and detect differences
Once list is populated hit the start flashing
Your drive should now be restored with original firmware

If you downloaded the ixtreme 1.41 for the Hitachi drive
There is a Restore.Bat file in there it should restore for you.
Once in modeb and windows detect DVD drive just d/click on the file enter your DVD drive letter and it will start the restore.

There is also a flash.Bat file
Once in modeb and windows detect DVD drive just find what speed you want to flash open folder d/click on the flashix.Bat file enter your DVD drive letter and it will start the flash.

Don?t forget to back up your original firmware for future use.

The reason why I don't want to use ixtreme flasher is because it was not successful the very first time. I want to restore and re flash with Maximus instead.
"Open your original firmware " is this Was.bin created by ixtreme flasher?

"There is also a flash.Bat file
Once in modeb and windows detect DVD drive just find what speed you want to flash open folder d/click on the flashix.Bat file enter your DVD drive letter and it will start the flash. "-- Will ixtreme take the care of the original DVD key, because it seems it did not the first time?

Yes it would be was.bin for your original F/W
It should be easer to us flashix.bat file than 360 toolbox
Do a search for a video tut that will help you.
View it a few times
You can play video at same time as flash, keep pausing until you have the performed the exact things

Good luck

Following your instructions of how to restore with Maximus, what I discovered was that drive has not been flashed at all (it would not restore)! After that it was easy to properly flash it with ixtreme. I originally tried to flash by using Sata 6142 PCI card on my old PIII PC three months ago, but it would not play any back up (for the obvious reason).
It was re flashed today on brand new PC with embedded Sata.
Many thanks for your help&hints!

Congratulations on your first flash
Now enjoy your back-ups but remember if you use on XBL you could, but will eventually get banned at some point.
Back up your original F/W
