Hi

This forum is really great, and I know a lot of topics are duplicated, but I cannot find specific entry on mine - apologies if I am repeating myself.

I bought a Japanese chipped Wii - in the shop they said it had the latest 3.2j software on it - and they sold me some US games which apparently would not cause me any problems

So I went home and set up the US versions of Mario Strikers and Summer Beach Sports - both of which wanted me to update - being naive on this whole thing I did so - and of course I am now semi-bricked after just 2 days.

So I guess I need to know what are my options for getting it back to where it was - is there an update on a game (ie Wii Fit) - which would mean if I got hold of a Japanese copy it would update my system and get rid of the brick problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Unfortuinatly no, not at this time.

3.2 is the most current update. If your console was already updated to 3.2 then you'll have to wait till a game with firmware 3.3 to get unbricked. And I dont even have a guess on when 3.3 will come out, much less what games will have it.

On the other hand it dosent seem that they really knew what they were talking about at that shop. So maybe they haddnt updated it to 3.2 yet. If thats the case then you can try running a japanese copy of mario kart and see if that fixes it. Mario kart is the only game I know of with 3.2 currently so if that dosent work then you're outta luck. Sorry.

I've never heard anything about firmware 3.3 being released.

Theres nothing about it on afterdawn or google. And I checked a couple torrent sites and read comments about wii fit containing 3.2

Well... my wii is Japanese also and, I am almost sure that you can only install 3.1v3 J from a cd, 3.2 can only be installed by download (from the options menu), try running mario kart wii it should solve your problem (because those games u mentioned don't have the latest firmware).

I have tried it with Mario KArt and it is not asking me to update - just going straight through to the game - is there anyway to manually activate the update? Or is there an alternative game?

If it dosent ask to update then you are already at 3.2j firmware. You cant manually do an update either. So it looks like your stuck with a semi-brick until a game with firmware 3.3 comes out. Sorry but theres no way to fix it otherwise...
