I've got a backed up copy of a DVD which I want to make another copy of. I dont want to do a copy-to-copy as its bordering on the limit of size I can get on disc.

I wanted to open it using Shrink 3.1 but it wont open it, so put it through Decryptor which has created an iso image now. Shrink still wont read this, so instead of burning it using Nero or Decryptor is there anything else I can do to compress it a little more??

not of the iso. if you want to reshrink it, you need to decrypt in file mode.

why won't shrink open the disc. What files are on the disc. is there a video_ts.ifo that you can try open files on?

or you could just use DVD Decrypter to burn the iso.

WelshBoa,

Don't know if it will help, but first download the newest version of DVD Shrink, version 3.1 and 3.1.1 had some bugs which are now fixed in 3.1.2

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

If this doesn't help, then try what yuedana suggested and rip the movie in file-mode and then open the files with Shrink.

EDIT: Some copying programs, for example DVDXCopy (I believe) do some nasty tricks to the copy so that some programs will have difficulties opening the files in order to make a copy of a copy. If this is the case here, and the ripping with DVD Decrypter file-mode doesn't work either, then I guess the only option you got left is to use the ISO-mode, read and write in DVD Decrypter. You will not be able to reduce the size of the files, though.

I dont want to use Decryptor to write the file as its almost 4644mb I think and I have had problems with my media when the file is that large.

Will try the new version of shrink again and see what happens

well a file that is 4644mb is over 21mb too big to fit on dvd-r anyways. So you must shrink it no matter what.
