Say I were to just download GTAIV on a torrent site, how would I go about getting that onto a dvd to play it? Do I need any of the xtreme firmware updates, XBox 360 SS Merger, ImgBurn, etc.? If anyone can help in detail of what I need to do once the game is finishes downloading it would be great! Also, do I need to purchase anything to insert in my Xbox, i.e. chips, drives?
E-mail me @ notallowed@here.com
or just reply to the thread.

Thanks!

you can start by reading any of the numerous big bold stickies at the top of the page. those are always a great place to start.

1.update your firmware on your xbox dvd drive.(enabling it to play backups)

2. you need a dual layer dvd. burner.

3 . you need dual layer discs (verbatim ones are best).

4. burn the iso onto a dual layer disc with img burn.

Its illegal unless you already have bought the game and own an original copy.

Still illegal in the US, even if you own 50 original copies. (as far as I can remember anyway)..

But even if that changed, the FW itself is illegal to put on the 360 drive, but who cares about that.

To save yourself trouble, only backup the games you purchased yourself.

its not mindless BS, there's a reason the threads are set up to show those threads first, and why each thread shows the oldest posts first. If you open one, the first thing you see is the instructions.

A little reading goes a long way my friend

The straightest answer you're going to get is that there is a lot of work and research that goes into installing new firmware for you 360 drive and burning games to play on it. If you want a comprehensive guide, check out The Textbook at This Site. This is the most comprehensive guide I have found and it was of great help for me. You should know that this process can take several hours, require a great deal of patience and potentially brick your 360 if you don't do it right.

If you can't at least try and help yourself then why should someone help you? This may not be the forum for you then.
Oh and read the rules too - no emails - post edited.
