First Off sorry for the noob question, there are a million pages and I can't find a solution.

I have the problems that most are having with SSBB. The game shows up, I start it and I get the green lettered disc error, I take the disc out and put it back in, then I'm able to play one match and it freezes directly after on a movie screen and I'm unable to skip it with pressing A. I've looked through these forums and have not found an answer, do i need to layer break?, or does it need to be patched?, can someone help me get a fully functioning game? Thank you in advance.

Disc did not ask for update
