I've been looking around on the net, and either I have a unique problem or people aren't particularly descriptive of their own.
I was recently trying to upgrade my WiiKey firmware from 1.9b so I could play Mario Kart. During the update to 1.9g, something took a turn for the worse and I was told to consult readme for recovery help. All of a sudden, backups stopped working. So I downloaded and burned the 1.9b recovery disc. I must have tried using it fifty times (both padded and unpadded, following all sorts of different guides). Still no backups work.
I'm not exactly sure what happens when a Wiikey has a bad flash, so if this is what happens, then perhaps I'm not so unique:
Inserting a backup into the Wii everything seems normal; the icon come s up in the disc channel ("Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2" it reads), and when I open the channel Goku's voice blares the title. As soon as I try to enter the game, however, the screen goes black for five or ten seconds and a disc read error comes up. This exact same thing happens when I try any of my backups, too. I know, not the most unusual of errors, but stay with me.
Now this is the part that makes me think I don't have a busted Wiikey - I'm able to complete the standard 1.9b update right until Homer's voice and the system reset. It just doesn't seem to do anything.
If anyone can shed light on whether this is just a standard bad flash, some wiring problems, or whatever have you, please give me a shout.
