Heya guys, new to this whole thing, i need somebody who understandts how to replace dvd drives (xbo 360) and getting them to work correctly, then i will tell u my situation plzzzzzzz help me guys i am a n00b =(

Thnx but... all the answers i find is, for reading back ups (aka. copys), i just want a normal dvd drive again, so that i can play halo 3, gta iv online :(, but ive connected all the same, but it just reads dvds, even games come up as dvds, (ive got the original dvd drive that broke? my new one is identical

you still have to hack firmware. read that link he sent you. you have to flash you drive/ replace the drive key. so basically you are going to be modding you box.

yep, you have to mod the new drive with the fw of the old drive, so you still run the chance of being banned. the only way around this is go out and buy a new 360.

You run less of a chance of being banned if you are just flashing the original xbox 360 from one drive to another than you would if you were flashing it to one of the firmwares used to read backups, but modding your box still runs you the risk of getting banned.
your best bet is either buying a new drive and switching the firmware boards, or buying a new xbox.
What exactly is wrong with your drive anyway?

my original, wouldnt read games or dvds at all, and the tray snapped of XD, so how would i get round to fixing it, it got a replacment btw, and ive got a new 360, i just thought i might b able to fix the old 1, and give it 2 ma brother
