Hi, I've got a fairly new wii, serial LEH13713771 and have checked it on tracker, came up with this: Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2C.Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.

Had nearly ordered wiikey but now don't know which one, been told it wont work with d2c. How can i find out for definite as d2c uses different chips to gc2 from what i think i know. What chip is best please as i heard bad things on here about argon and d2pro. Any help is appreciated thanks.

Hi, you should go for the D2ckey for wii versions with serial numbers begining LEH135 and higher 'ie your system'
These work as well on your system.
Wassabi
D2Pro

Thanks, I read that just now. Seems to be wassabi, d2pro, argon and infectus are the ones that will work but in your opinion which is best (and cheap) and easy to fit. I have soldered before bu only normal connections, nothing as small as these chips. Also something futureproof would be handy. Dont quite understand the differences in the chips i mentioned.

Future proof means more expansive :)
If you're planning to install it yourself, I guess that most (if not All) D2C modchips are beyond "amateur" soldering and therefore one should consider having it chipped by a professional.
As far as the chip, I have a D2CKey and it's working good, and so far, it has stood the time and it's very cheap compared to the other ones. Infectus or argon would be the best second choice but they comeout very epansive considering the usb programmer needed for the updates.

PS: both infectus and argon are better technically, but as for now, the price is not justified as the cheap D2C does all they do, which makes D2C better :)

I may be wrong but i think i read on here somewhere that the d2ckey cant be updated meaning that any change in firmware or something would make it useless. Read that d2pro is the better version. I am from uk and dont know anywhere over here that does installing as well as chip. Would consider d2ckey if told it works with everything up till now tho. Any idea how much they are btw and of anywhere in uk that installs? Thanks for replies

dude, it does play everything so far, including those "sick titles" such as SSBB, and it's very stable.
As for the updatability, I quote here from the D2CKey home page:
Quote:
Since the announcement of the new d2prog programming device on d2pro.com, we have received a lot of emails from people asking us about the updatability of D2CKey. We would like to respond by saying that although D2CKey is technically updateable, and compatible with d2prog, we have never published updatability as a feature of D2CKey. That said, if any issues with D2CKey do arise in the future, we will endeavor to provide an update now that the d2prog device has been made available. However, due to the way that D2CKey interacts with the drive, there is not much that can be changed via an update. Please keep in mind that D2CKey has proven incredibly versatile and reliable to date, and an update has not been necessary thus far. Some people have also asked us whether or not a D2CKey can be upgraded to a d2pro: The simple answer to this is that it cannot, due to the extra hardware components d2pro includes. D2CKey and d2pro are physically different chips. One final note: If you have a D2CKey already installed in your console, you are not missing out on anything! If you have a D2CKey which hasn't been installed yet, all this means is that you have some extra wires to solder. It will still do everything that a d2pro can do once installed!

As for the UK, ill try to google for some links

Thanks, seems to be about £100 installed. Shame really as normal d2b or whatever with wiikey is under 50 but thanks for finding them for me. I will have to get it done soon.

Indeed, ninty tried to "save" its system by highering the barrier to hacking :)

It would be £87 ic postage if you used the same place as me.
They also have telephone number, so you can call them and sort what is best chip for you.
I have Wiikey so updating is no problem, as far as I know if updates are required they will be made available for this chip, and therefore it is updateable.
PM me for the link to UK fitter, as its against forum rules to list it in the thread.
