I had an xbox last summer and used to backup games and burn games normally but now i get stuck at 50% at every burn? I went to best buy they took it and we tried it there and where using memorex and it went fine . So common sense tells me my burner doesn't like verbatim dl any more which is weird . So i just decided that ill get ridata because every one says it second.
Which ones should I get

or
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Skusearch.hmx?scriteria=AA72768

and are there any stores that sell ridata

The first link are printable ones with a max burn speed of 2.4x - the 2nd link is non printable one w/ a max burn speed of 8x.

If you have a somewhat older burner say 3 years or older that hasn't had a recent firmware update I would go for the 1st ones.

AFAIK you can only get Ritek/Ridata branded online. In store you'd find them under another brand name like Memorex.

For the burner failing on the Verbs - make sure the firmware is up to date on the burner

I knew Binkie would jump on this one. :)

That's really we weird every verb gets stuck at 50%, presumably where the layerbreak is.

What burner r you using?

Yeah very doubtful there will ever be a firmware update for it.

For this drive I'd definitely go for the first link.

But your also right in probably needing a new burner too. It being a Matshita explains why it doesn't like Verbs anymore :) - the burner ain't the best by far - quite picky in my experience.

Well they're not the same - Ritek manufactures some of Memorex's stuff but not all - Memorex uses several manufacturers. So it can be a mixed bag on what you actually get.

Dual layer - 4x & under are made differently then the newer 8x media - so that would play into your too especially since there are no firmware updates. This explains a bit more about the difference - link

I think you'll have a better chance with them but no guarantee it will be 100%.

Verbatim was the first manufacturer of dual layer media so it has better firmware support (4x & under) with most drives.
If you were using higher rated ones that would explain why it was failing at approx the layer break like BurningAs pointed out. Manufactured differently and the Matshita didn't know how to handle the layer break.
