Play and Charge Kit With PC?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a "Play and Charge Kit" for my Xbox 360 Wireless controllers and have noticed that the Xbox itself needs to be powered on so that the controllers can charge when connected through the USB cord.

As I do not want to keep my Xbox 360 on just to charge my controllers, is it possible to connect the wireless controller to a PC using the "Play and Charge Kit" and charge it that way?

I have tried charging it through the PC but as soon as I connect the USB cables, I am asked to install a driver for the controller and I cannot find any drivers for it.

I am not sure it will work. My suggestion is to go to Wal-Mart and get this:

They work much better then those play and charge kits. Plus you can have one battery in the controler and one in the charger so you will always have a battery that is ready to go when needed.

Actually, it does work. I only use my pc to charge my batteries now. Got tired of leaving the 360 on.

if you turn the 360 off and leave the controller plugged it should still charge. mine does.

The controllers do charge with the 360 turned off, but it isn't actually off. The fans are still on even when the 360 is turned off and this is likely to cause some problems in the future.

I think it would be safer to charge the controllers through the PC as its nearly on all the time and does not break as easily as the 360!

Does anybody know where I can get the drivers from for the Xbox wireless controller? I've searched everywhere and cannot seem to find any drivers. I found the software to go with the controllers however it is for the "Wireless Receiver".

If you're just charging, you don't need any drivers. When you get the install new hardware dialog box, just close it. It'll still charge.
