You can start off by reading the stickies and then ask any questions that you may have. Be sure to search first using the search button on top.

Of course, but I have no clue what firmware and homebrew.. I don't know what to search exactly... And yes, I've been through all the stickies months before I got my Wii.. So I want more detail. I have Senior Member for a reason. And yes, I tell people to search too but I don't have a clue of WHAT TO SEARCH. So some information please.

Here I found this just for you tell me if it helps hahahahahhaha

*In general, you should keep things within the region of your system to be on the safe side. However for the daring ones here is a useful resource: link

------INTERNET SETUP AND UPDATES------
*Updates can be performed using the Internet. Always check AfterDawn for reports about new updates. here are two useful guides about updating via Internet:

1) How to connect Wii to Internet
2) How to perform a System Update via Internet

------WIIKEY GUIDE------
*For Wiikey owners here is a general guide: link

------GAMES' REGION and HOW TO CHECK FOR IT
*Why you should try to keep everything within you Wii's region (Read first post here.)

*Use Wiibrickblocker to check the region of your images (Download here new version working on DL images)
How to use Wiibrickblocker
1) Load ISO
2) Click on read info
3) Look at the region information
[Use the PATCH button if you want to play games from other regions]

Region Patcher Compatibility List: LINK

------PROBLEMS WITH WIIKEY CONFIG 1.3 -- GCOS is the solution------

"Some people are having problems getting the newly released Wiikey 1.3 Config disc working on their systems. We have not figured out why the config disc works for some but not others so I went ahead and made up GCOS versions for all 3 versions of the 1.3 Config disc. Hopefully this will save people 2mins if their having problems getting the 1.3 Config disc working. Just download and burn, it's all ready to go." ( courtesy of DeVS from PSX.Scene)

* If you had problems updating your Wiikey or your Wii doesn't recognize the Wiikey Config disc, you need to run the Wiikey Recovery disc in GCOS mode: HERE. Use it to TURN ON the Region Override, then you should be able to update and config your Wiikey normally.

------LET'S MAKE CAMECUBE Multipak Discs------
**Lots of great Gamecube games out there. Learn how to make Multi-games DVD (And also how to make Emulator discs) HERE.

If WiiUI does not work for you when making Emulator Discs then try this other method

GCOS Gamecube Compatibility List: LINK

------HOW TO MAKE EMULATOR DISCS------
1) The better and more successful way to make emulator discs is outlined in my post here
2) WiiUI can be used to make emulator discs. It has a function just for that. However I think it makes PAL images.

------FIND OUT WHICH GAMES RUN in 480p and more------
Everything you wanted to know about the graphics of wii games and more is right here!

------Wii APPLICATIONS and HOMEBREW------
We got something going on here!

OMG... Thank you for so much information! I've learned a lot from that.. I don't understand half of them, but you've started me off so I'll look up the stuff in greater detail. Once again, thank you!

@kikzm33z
No offense but your question is pretty broad.
Try and narrow it down some then start there for your search. Like do you want to play back ups on the Wii?
Modding a Wii is way different then a psp. Here's what I told another senior member - link.

If you're not modding it then it's pretty simple - pop the game in and play :)

Sorry Binky, won't do it again. I would ask another question but I'll search it and discuss it. Sorry again -.-'

EDIT: One more question! When turning my Wii off using the remote, it goes on standby, right? I have gotten some people saying that never leave the Wii standby... So I pushed and hold the power button on my Wii and the light goes red. Does that mean I can leave it all night long? Would it be safe if I took the AC Adapter off? Would it somehow damage the system if I did take off the AC Adapter every night? I've got some answers but it doesn't entirely answer my questions...
So thanks in advance, I'll try to make this my last post :|

Whoever told you standby was bad can suck my wiener.

I've had my wii for over a year, and I've left it on standby for months at a time while i was away at school and it still runs like a dream.

Of course, it would be more economical and environment friendly to turn it off, so why don't you just turn off your entire power-bar that your tv, dvd, wii, and whatever else is connected to, to make up for my lazy energy-wasting @ss that doesn't? It won't damage your system unless you're updating your firmware or playing online as you do it and even then it's still unlikely.

And don't mind binkie too much he's just got his panties in a twist from all the noobs starting brawl and mario kart threads. Although your question is broad it breaks no rules so u can keep asking away that's what afterdawn is for hahahahahahahahaha. The regulars can tell people to search for their answer until they are blue in the face but truth be told it's too much hassle to wade through all the crap because when you search for a word every time it's used in a sentence it will come back to you and as you can see the stickies are 100's of pages long.

BUT: That first but I posted that you said was sooo useful was just copy/paste out of a sticky too ;) I'm surprised binkie didn't comment on that :(

So.. It wouldn't make a difference if I took off the cable(AC Adapter) every single night. You know, it makes me think that my Wii is still on when the red light shows up... So, it's absolutely safe to UNPLUG the Adapter. I'm using an extension and I can't be bothered going under a table just to switch off the plug... So let's make it clear, taking off the AC Adapter while my Wii is closed(red light) is absolutely safe? ABSOLUTELY. I am a worrying person as you can see. Thanks all.

P.S. Yes, I have gathered a lot of information on Wii bricks. Well, for now I only know about the region brick.

EDIT: Oo, before anyone answers the top question, can anyone answer if the Wii is fully off when the light is red? I mean, will it use any power at all? For example, after 2 hours of use of the Wii, I switch it off fully with the red light on, will it cool down after 20-30 mins? Or will it still be warm? Thanks.

EDIT 2: Sorry everyone for wasting your time... I've done a little searching and a little MSNing and I've solved me problem...
So just to get this straight:
Green: 100% On.
Yellow: 100% Standby.
Red: 100% Off - which means no heating.

Right? I'll say thanks to the next person who says yes, because I don't want to post another post in this thread.
So thank you to next poster that answers the 2nd edit.

No panties in a bunch here brucedlx - my only point (which maybe I could have worded differently)was to narrow down - start small and work your way up - cause there is a lot to cover. Learn the basics first type of thing.

Now posting links to Wiikey stuff might be confusing since kikzm33z just got a new Wii and chances are the wiikey won't work in it.

Oh and I'm girl btw not a guy. Why does everyone here think a poster/whatever has to be a guy .....

Now the copy and paste job well you should give credit where credit it due :) Oh and I don't read every post in every thread so yeah I'll miss stuff :)

hahaha I did end up giving credit (well I said I just took it out of a sticky).

And sorry, I have a friend (guy) who used to dress like a clown in middle school every since we called him binkie (binkie the clown) so it was a natural response.

That and also 99% of users are guys.

I need to dig out the stats dRD posted a bit back - but I think females we're a bit higher than 1% :)

But if you mean the Wii - it's pretty equal user wise I think.
Some interesting facts - link (just game related - not Wii)

I need help saving Red Steel!! I've completed like 80% of a level in Red Steel and then I had to shut it down. I haven't opened up my Wii since I've closed it, but I want to know if Red Steel autosaves at 'CHECKPOiNT...'. I can't check it right now, I'm suspended from it :|
So I need some help. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Every time I save Tomb Raider: Anniversary on slot 2 (sister is on slot 1) it simple removes slot 1 and replaces it with my save, meaning that my sister's save has been deleted but my save has replaced it on slot 1. You understand? :S Is this common? I need some help. And I have 200 slots or something on my Wii so I have plenty of memory left. Any help will be appreciated.

For kikzm33z

Quote:
Green: 100% On.
Yellow: 100% Standby.
Red: 100% Off - which means no heating.

Not exactly complete in explanation. Assuming your Wii is wireless connected to your home network, then:

The Yellow is when your WiiConnect24 standby internet connection is activated. This means you can recieve updates from Nintendo, News and Weather updates for your region.

The Red is when the WiiConnect24 is OFF and your unit will not connect to the internet in standby mode.

When in Yellow, it does heatup (draws equivalent power to a small light bulb) due to its connection to the wireless network.

Read about WiiConnect24 here and here
