I just bought a DVD Burner by Pioneer
The model is DVR 106D
I tried to burn a DVD for the 1.st time
but I got a CACHE error.
My configuration is the following:
Pentium III with 256 SDRAM memory
Processor : 500 Mhz
OS: Windows XP Pro
I use Nero EOM ver. 6.0
What is the meaning of this cache error?
What are the exact steps to burn a DVD.
I suspect that the cache error ,is because
my "poor environment" If this is the case
than what is the minimal configuration that
can burn a DVD?

I have exact same dvd bruner the process I use to burn dvd is
STEP ONE
Using program DVD DECRPYTER
Under the MODE TAB select file option. Then it will automatically select all files if not select them all yourself, then hit the big symbol bottom left. About apx 30 min later all files will be decrypted. Be sure to rip all files in list maybe make a directory that at the top of you list of directories like 1decrpyt to dump files in.
In this state you can play movies off your hard.
STEP TWO
You will need a program called DVD2One. Using this program it will crunch the dvd you ripped to a size that will fit on a 4.7 gb single layer dvd. You can either select full movies that will give you menus special fetures etc or strip it down to just the movies. Dump it into a second directory like 1dvd2onedumnp.
STEP THREE
The files in directory 1dvd2onedump needs to be burned. At the moment im using Nero express which may have come with your burner it did with mine. Select all the files hit next and the burn button and presto you should have a perfect copy of your dvd that works on pc and stand alone dvd players.
All programs can be found on kazaa :).
As for your system requirements, check the box it came in, maybe its on there. I threw my box out and manuals once it started working so im a bit lost there. Maybe some one else can answer you question on requirements.

The first programs name is DVD Decrypter not DVD DECRPYTER sorry for spelling is late in aus :)

please have a care, such things can cause a lot of trouble for AfterDawn.
All programs can be downloaded LEGALLY without resorting to a P2P application that is COMMONLY associated with "piracy".
Use the software section of this site, or a quick Google.

Fair enough.
Two of the programs are free ware, and the other are pay to use, is only illegal if you download the crack separatly which I didnt refer to. I am new to furoms however and would have pointed to programs availible on site just hadnt seen that bit yet.

It has to be that way because the forums are public, and if there is anything written that a LAWYER COULD TWIST the meaning of, it can cause problems.
When the law is involved, you intent will invariably take a back seat to the twisted interpretation the lawyers will force upon it.

I got one of these.
My problem is that no matter which player of the four players I use use , I always get THIS HAS PERFORMED AN ILLEGAL OPERATION AND WILL BE SHUT DOWN. My 106d is region free (flashed). strangely enough it played my Laurel and Hardy once but never again.
I've reformatted , reinstalled. I'm wondering if it may be memory.
Any clues anyone.

Downloading software that is not free from Kazaa is illegal (in nearly every country around the world). So know what you're going on about before trying to disrespect a valuable member of aD beasty976

Hi,
I bought the same drive 2 days ago. Havent had a prob. I can't find any system requirments on the paper that came with it, might be on the box, i dunno i bought OEM version so i didn't get a box...
Umm, i've been using CloneDVD coupled with anyDVD and i have had no problems baking up my DVD collection. Maybe try this combo...
Your sys specs though are quite a possibility, WinXP would eat up almost all your ram/cpu bandwidth by itself... Make sure all your drives are on UDMA mode. Make sure you have the latest motherboard BIOS installed. Just update everything you can. The firmware that came with my drive was 1.08, which i haven't updated since it works good. If you could borrow a faster cpu or ram off a mate i'd try that. Also, if you could install maybe Win2k instead it might be less resource hungry??
Cache error would suggest that maybe a buffer under-run. Ie, your burner is burning faster than the data is being sent to it. I'd say try burning at a slow speed. Also, i would think it would have top do with ANYTHING but your pioneer drive.

I didn't yet tried the solutions of DVD2One or
DVD Decrypter yet (also the last one is only good
for DVD less than 90 min. (4.7 GB)
When I'll try them I'll respond.
