I posted a tutorial on how to do a PSN gameshare. The terms have now been edited by Sony and you are no longer allowed to do this. Stuff I obtained from previous shares still works but from various sources are reporting Sony has now tightened their grip. I've even heard that 3 game shares now will get you banned from PSN. If you have tried a gameshare and at the end of the share you don't have what you downloaded then this is why.

I made another mistake. I went by info off of another forum. This is unconfirmed. For your own protection I recommend a temporary stop in all game sharing until we know the truth to the situation.

Update: Nothing has changed in the terms and conditions and Sony has not made an official statement. I think it still works but if you try please do so at your own risk. I am not responsible for you getting banned from PSN

I have been expecting Sony to try to stop game shares for a while, although i thought that they would start restricting the games to 1 user (as they did with Warhawk)... i didnt think they would actually start banning people.

Is it the account or the PS3 itself that they would ban? and would people who have game shared in the past be at risk?

I saw this coming awhile ago, I'm just surprised it took this long. Are there any official reports or only incidents of game-sharers being banned?

And Sony does ip address bans.

I haven't seen any official reports, only a few mentions on various forums when i googled it.
In the terms and conditions of the games it said you could download the content onto 5 activated PS3 systems, so therefore game sharing the games wouldn't have been against the rules??

Also, i don't know much about networking etc...but if Sony ban your IP, couldn't you just assign your PS3 a static IP on your network, and sign up again?

On the subject of sharing, when i bought the CoD maps, i downloaded them onto my own PS3, and the same for 2 friends. Both of my friends messed it up though and deleted the user, and so lost the maps. I downloaded it again for them both ('cos im kind like that :P) - meaning all 5 downloads had been used. Then, after got my new PS3 last week (returned my original as it was faulty), i downloaded the maps again onto my own machine, meaning i had downloaded it 6 times in total.
Any idea why it let me do that?

No it's not 5 downloads it's 5 users. You are allowed to share with people for all games for a total of 5 PS3s including your own. Like I let 1 download tekken, 1 download MGO, 1 download Pain, and 1 download the map packs. I can share with these 4 people unlimitedly but with nobody else. It is not based on 5 downloads it's based on 5 people.

It bans the ip address that your isp gives you, your thinking of the network address which is similar but not the same. Essentially if you get banned no one can access the PSN from your house again unless you switch isp's. PlayStation forums works the same and afterdawn does this in cases where people create accounts then get banned repeatedly.

I'm glad some other people have looked into this as I, myself, have had questions. If you use a "cable modem" type-modem, you can gain a "new IP" by disconnecting the power and then plugging it back in again for most ISP's. This of course, depends on your ISP. I have had friends who were banned (from other things) base don their IP and were not able to change it by turning off thei modem... so they called their ISP and requested to have their IP changed. This worked for the most part.. you may however, need to speek to a "supervisor" at the ISP helpdesk and just tell them that there seem to be issues with your IP and using some certain services. They really shouldn't give you too much trouble as long as you are still paying your monthly bill.

Does anyone know if PSN bans the account based on the Email address given too?

PSN game sharing is a process in which other people can download stuff you purchased of PSN. There is no official word as of yet. The EULA has not changed. Like I said I got this info off of another forum. If you wish to gameshare do so at your own risk since it is not confirmed to not work.

Dude my friend has shared his tekken over 10 times now. Its unhealthy. I dont know if they can impose a limit. All that would happen if you get your psn id banned. You just make a new one. Thats why the Cod4 pack was so high. Thats why everything is so expensive on there. Because they know everyone will share. I mean 15 bucks for 4 maps that are already in the singleplayer campaign??? come on.
