60 percent of GTA IV sales were for Xbox 360?

After Take-Two announced that the blockbuster hit GTA IV had hit $500 million USD in sales for its first week, Microsoft was quick to release data alleging that over 60 percent of those sales were for the Xbox 360 console and not the rival PlayStation 3.

I think that the reason it MIGHT have sold more on the 360 is because there is more 360s in the market....If the ps3 only has 6 million systems out there and sold 3 million copies of GTA 4 for it well thats a out standing ratio...30 million 360 consoles and 3.75 million copies of GTA 4 sold for them ....thats a good ratio...(my numbers are NOT accurate..its for example ONLY)
For me....the PS3 version has better graphics.....But I do have both copies..360 and PS3

I bought the ps3 version just because there isn't crap on the system and i'm tired of feeling like I bought a blu-ray player, the game started locking up on me,my friend also had this problem, so I took it back and bought the 360 version.

I have both systems and GTA 4 on both systems. 360 version looks better, but then my 360 stopped working. In the meantime been playing on the PS3 and haven't had any freezing problems yet, but I got the 40GB version. heard the freezing it was more common on the 60GB version.
PS3 has a GTA4 bundle in the UK? If so wouldn't that push more systems.

like Muccione said, the percentage for ps3 is probably much better. but who knows, I dont have any facts.
btw, I have one of the first 60GB ps3s and GTA's never locked up or anything, not even any online problems. guess I'm lucky

i disagree. i played both and the 360 version loads faster despite the PS3's so called Install of the game on the Hard drive.
and the graphics look better on the 360.
the ps3 doesn't look like crap. but in comparison it doesn't look like it whips the 360 in anyway.

so yea... u do the math. =]
btw i have ps3 60gb. sometime would freeze on boot.. but eh. first release console.. u gotta expect some bugs.. thats why its constantly being updated =] for the better.. im glad divx came out for it =D

I have a 60gb version and I havent had a single freez up at all. I think its more like the 40gb and the 80gb since people bought alot of those.

Well its the same as sony fud but this does reflect what the retailers have been stating.
its easy to see why though:
360 + GTA4 = £159.99
PS3+ GTA4 = £300+
lets just wait for the NPD data ppl.

that's because the ps3 is only 640 resolution where as the 360 is 720p HD the ps3 has a pitiful amount of ram that was always going to be an issue with demanding games.

P.S. just out of the random, are there any forums on afterdawn.com with GTA 4 guides? coz i finished story mode (33 hrs :D) and there r a few things i still need to do in SP, like the text message cars u get from Brucies friend steve, i steal em and it pops up with a game msg saying "u have stole the car steve told u about" or sumthin, and i have no idea wot to do with it so its parked outside my safehouse lol

omg, does the 360 not have a rj45 connection and xbox live in the UK costs £34.98 a year so that's £0.67 pence a week. hang on let me add this up, wait, one sec i think that works out at £194.97 yes that's more expensive than the ps3 bundle, hu what's gone wrong there i must be really bad at maths!

unless ur speaking of the price to buy it xD than ya Xbox is generally cheaper, i prefer sony coz i been with them ever since PS1 and well it took Microsoft a while to fix the issue with the the frying Xboxes. that would have made a good mothers day gift and would have made making breakie easier xD

im not english but pounds xtra doesnt seem like much just go with wot u can find, but if ur patient than look for cheaper.
:( i could have got GTA 4 for AU$70 but instead i paid $90 lol there was sooo much competition for sales here that EBgames, JB Hi Fi, kmart, target etc... all had to drop prices to beat compo xD

PS3 did sell a lot, man!! And i cant say that i have a comment for the charge for xbox live besides that i wish it were free i admit, and it is way better than ps3's online.
This has been bugging me for a bit. Why would some people buy the game for both consoles. That just seems like a waste of money unless you have more than One gamer who will be playing GTAIV. Then you have some that have both consoles but said they bought it for the ps3. Did you guys forget the xbox360 has the rights to the downloadable exclusive content that will eventually be released and the ps3 doesnot???

To truly compare prices you really do have to add all that stuff to the 360. It's like standard features and equipment on a car. PS3 has much more standard features. But who cares really?

Now i admit i am no genius, though i do consider myself pretty intelligent book sense and common sense. Microsoft didnot pay 50 million dollars for exclusive content that will be released later for the Sony's PS3. That is not book sense. It is from what i read posted here on AD site and from my own COMMMON SENSE. What would it benefit Microsoft to pay that much money to get the downloadable content before Sony? Dude please think before you speak. Like i said before Xbox360 owners will get extras possible more missions downloadable via internet were those of you who unfortunately have the PS3 version will not get to experience. The graphics are identical,(i know there is some diff but anyone who says either version is better per graphics should be shot, You couldnot tell the diff between the versions unless you had them side by side so lay that crap to R.I.P.),and they are so close in all ways except the xbox has the rights to the exclusive downloabable content. So again i say Xbox version wins.
