nope, there are only like 2 non-MS HDs that will work for the 'original' MS HD. i believe one is called a 'scorpion' or something like that. and once you have that HD, you have to get some files off a 'real' MS HD to format it properly.

You can't just throw that scorpio in there. You need the HDDHacker. First, you have to make sure you got the right series. There's the scorpio bevs lat and the bevs rst. You need the lat.
Also, you still need the security sector from a legit 360 drive. You can read more here: http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEZZkAAAVVpHxXqpYb.php

why would you go through all of that trouble for a 20 gig drive? seems like a waste of time to me, but thats my own personal opinion

Are you putting that HDD in your 360 to cut costs? Because $40 (S&H included) got me an official 20gb HDD off of eBay. I'm sure you could find a similar deal if you search around.

Well you can Google how to make your hdd internal. But you do know that you can't have the 20 and 120 connected at the same time, right?
Or, you could pick up a busted 360 hdd off eBay for cheap and use the case with your new one.
And you still need the security sector from an official 360 20 gig hdd. I don't think one from a 120 will work.
Obviously each hdd has it's own ss. I'd imagine if you "borrow" someone elses ss, you'd be, in a sence, making a duplicate hdd. And I would thing that if MS sees two duplicate hdds on LIVE they would know someones been messing around which could lead to getting banned.
Just something to think over.
