If they can get this Cell-based HDTV priced at under $5000 for a 50 to 52 incher then count me in.

Another feature is described as the ability to "display video as if it is being viewed through opera glasses." Although unclear, it seems that may be a description of a zoom function.
Zoom function? Like the feature on all HD DVD players?

Is this not old news?

Infact there is a video somewhere of them showing one off. You can see that the picture is definitely upscaled and they showed the 40-chann view :P

Laptops aren't gaming machines! If this would technology would run crysis on high details, don't you think they would have implemented it into gaming desktops yet!

XPS and Alienware's are overpriced, but then if you are a CP gamer you should really be building and overclocking your own PC! If you can't build your own PC or atleast overclock it, then you rele wont be able to play crysis high details!

In all honestly for this 'laptop GPU' it more sounds like a cheaper replacement for the standard intergrated GPU in most laptops atm!

FYI I can quite happily build a gaming rig for just over £750! which is a lot chepaer than your 2000 (whatever currency it is in)!

it's possible but highly unlikely, since the cell processor's was designed for devices with a slimed OS. also the fact that Linux as of now is the only OS thats not hardware dependent that can run it. so if you could manage to get crysis to run on linux its not impossible.

PS3 tech angle here is they are using the chipset in replacement to the normal chipsets and boards, calling it PS3 anything is a bit much its a cell based board and chipsets to run the TV/PLAYER/DEVICE more effianlty.

no but the right gaming laptop can do nicely,it might be silly and over priced but its not bad if you got the cash to burn, a desktop even a slim just is to much to haul around.

FYI windose can barely do 2-3 cores a parallel CPU it could not use,the "ix" stuff is a fair OS if you know what you are doing but it dose not have the support for such things, maybe in 5 years+....

Its a super win if the TVs have the ability to play Blu-Ray movies and PS3 games out of the box. Or at least blu-ray movies.
