Japanese wii with wiikey in US connecting to internet.

I have japanese wii 3.1J with wiikey updated to 1.9S
Can I Connect to internet and play SSBB online?
Is it safe to do that??
I heard that If I connect to internet with japanese wii in USA ,
it automatically updates so wii gets bricked.

Does anybody know about this?? How do I connect to internet???

not sure about ssbb but the internet is shared with the world so it doesnt really matter where u connect it from, as long as ur wii is from jap and it will go to the jap server.

playing online hasn't bricked my wii. So it is safe to go online..Going online does not update your wii firmware. You always get a warning before it updates your firmware. and btw..how do u use japanese wii in u.s? do you know if you need to use a power converter with your ac adapter? just wondering because i am bringing a japanese wii into the u.s next month.

u dont "need" a converter becuz the jap wii use 100v and america is 110v, it only generates more heat, but if u wanna be safe then u should use one. i have a jap wii and i just dont play for more than 4-5 hrs straight and its still good as new.
