Hey everyone.I was wanting to know if there is any possibility that my xbox 360 elite can have a v78 drive.I figured out that its manufactured in July 2,2007.(2007-07-02)..Ive also read in a forum that Team-CSON has been making elites with v78s.I have Team CSON Lot # 0726.This issue has been going on for a while.I tried searching to see if there was a post like this but couldnt find one.Anyways,my main question is that can my elite have a v78.I know that v79 is most common and I just wanted to see cause Im installing some mods in my 360 like a fan and vent lights and wanted to do it all in once.Im just waiting for a lighiing kit to come in stock so I can buy it.I wouldve found out by now if i had all my modding parts but Im curious to know if my dvd drive can be v78.Also if anyone has a v78 elite and can post there info in,that would be nice.
If its v79 then Im not flashing my 360 cause its too much of a risk.

Only Elites with the 78 drive were made in March and April '07. Everything else was the 79, or BenQ

Basically it was only a batch some of the "launch" Elites that had a 0078 drive. So there are very few of those out there.

I'd give it a 99.9% chance that it's a hitachi 79.

There's only one way to find out for sure though. And that's by opening the case of course.

Yah..Ill find out soon though.After I get my aurora lighitng kit ill open it up to install my mod parts and Ill find out.I wasnt planning to falsh it.Im ok with buying games now.But if its a v78 I might flash it.I hope Maximus comes with a no soldering method fr v79 drives.
