BestBuy,

Hmm...interesting. Another question, when you had your Wasabi on there were you getting the chip working but not the drive? Is that why you tried the cap fix? I did a mod recently with the Wasabi and found this to be the case. One would work, Chip or Drive, but not both at the same time. Wasabi was absolutely not compatible with D2C2. Had to go with D2pro V2.

After installing my D2pro and wii-clip (pre-soldered by Techsick.com) and making sure I didn't have a red led (though I didn't get much more than a flash of blue, is it supposed to stay on? some hint on the d2pro site would be nice) I loaded and played wii fit and wii sports, both store bought, proper region. Now the big test, the burned disc (victorious boxers) and then, immediately:

"An error has occurred. Press the Eject button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii Console off and refer to the Wii operations manual for help troubleshooting"

Ok. Except my disc will not eject and will no longer read the wii-fit anymore either, after rebooting. Great, now I have a wii paper weight, any suggestions?

Are you sure you fitted the clip correctly, you have to press down hard to fit it.

If you remove the clip what happens ?

Yes I pushed the clip down firmly. The disc is screwed with or without the clip attached. I have updated firmware, formatted the wii , no change at all. No disc can go in, no disc can go out, and it doesn"t read anything. Tried changing back to a store bought disc by removing the dvd housing and swapping discs that way. All no go.

I've only done one D2CPro V2 9 (soldered) myself, but on first power up I had a similar experience. The owner had left a disk in the machine, but it was upside down ! So after initially panicking thinking it wouldnt even read an original, I ejected the disk, flipped it over, and found then the wii wouldnt accept the disk back in. I ended up powering the wii down, gently forcing the disk in, then switching it back on.....the wii then dragged the disk in the final 5% and started to play the disk. I then pressed eject, the disk came out, and from then the wii acted as normal, and has done since.

Not upside down wish, it was that simple. Ended up taking off the dvd housing completely and taking the wii fit disc out and slowly turning the drive mechanism on the right side (the pulleys with the rubber band) managed to get the drive back into an "open position". The wii still thinks there is an unreadable disc in the drive though, so still no go. Will pop the battery out for a few days and let it drain all it reserve power and see if that resets anything. Hope it works. The chip is no go completely, think it must be defective, I never get more than a flash of blue, and always comes back on red when i power off and back on. Arrrgggh!!

Now correct me if I am wrong, but the title of this thread is not "Is my chip broken?" but "My wii won't accept discs after wii clip install".
DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT!!!

My question, therefore, is not about whether the chip is broken or not (of course it's broken), my question is what do with my drive that is locked after installing the chip!!!

But hey, thanks for the helpful feedback.

If the worst comes to the worst then a good mod chip installer should be able to sort it out for you, they usually have the spare parts etc etc

[edit] have you tried emailing a pro and asking their advice / suggestions ?

Yeah I have been thinking that, just been waiting for the shop I bought it from to step up and help me, but... still waiting. Do you have any recommends? I am in Japan and don't know anyone personally. Cheers.

did wii-chip send u back your original drive, and are they reliable?
I've purchased the d2pro9 solderless chip and it did not work, as the red light (led) stayed on.

ALso how quick was the service?

Could u comment back please nikThomas plz!

cheers

Just a final update on my situation. Wii-Clip and D2Pro gave me ZERO support, they didn't even return my emails. I ended up being shipped a new drive with a new chip soldered on it free of charge from the guys I bought the Wii-Clip and D2Pro from (Techsick.com in Australia for those of you who might be interested). My original drive is still completely screwed, but my new drive and chip work great and I have been playing backups non stop for the past few days.

I had the same problem with 2 wiis and 2 different D2Pro9 (D2C2) + Wii Clip (presoldered). When the clips came all the points were soldered together including the clk. i had 2 different models of the wii - d2b with cutoff legs and a d2c. i emailed support and below is their response.

For D2B consoles, only 3V3, GND, G, H, and J have to be soldered so that is your issue with the D2B one. i also removed the clk and solder the J wire as http://www.wii-clip.com/V4B_for_D2pro-9.htm.

If it does not work on the D2C when you just put it on, you have to solder the J wire manually as shown here: http://www.wii-clip.com/V4B_for_D2pro-9.htm. i had to remove the clk point as well
