Hi guys I've been trying to dump from my wii to an SD card with the 1.3 config disc.
I have an official sandisk 2gb SD card
a penga sd adapter (not sure if this is a problem but others seem to have used it fine) an original gamecube memory card
and a Wii with the latest firmware.
Right I can format the SD card using the wiikey utilities, so I know there's no problem with the SD card.
the DVDDump tool always tells me there's an error, if I check the wii data management screen and plug my sd card in to the adapter on the wii in slot A it detects nothing.
if I plug it in to slot B it says something like "the inserted device cannot be used"
so this worries me and makes me think my slot A might be broken, but if I put my gamecube memory card in slot A it's instantly recognised.
So is this the port or is it my adapter?
does it always say nothing is detected with an sd adapter in port A, or is there something slightly different about port B that would change the message say for one missing line in the adapter?
thanks for any help guys
EDIT: well i've sent it back now and hoping the replacement will work.
ok thanks, i've got that sorted now but my gecko has been returned so i'll have to wait till it's sent back before I can see if that was the problem, appreciated though :)
yeh I opened the gecko up to have a look the soldered lines were on a blind side of the pcb because the bottom half was kinda glued to the outside casing so i didn't want to tear it to pieces in case i couldn't return it.
the sd contacts were all fine.. it was just the lines to the GC memory card side i wasn't sure about, I suppose I should've looked up a schematic and just built it myself, but i was being lazy with the forums tbh :p
same prob, all i had to do was open it up, and put a little square of cardboard from the packaging under the contacts so it fit tighter in the GC slot.
