i want to buy a 500Gb external hard drive so i can store my downloaded movies on there. Is their a way to hook it up to my PS2 so i can watch the movies through that?

Yeah you need the SMS player elf, then just run the elf with the usb hdd attached then select your movie.

One thing I noticed, if you get he audio but a black screen then just change the screen size, i.e. letterbox, pan, widescreen.
