I got my will a week ago and its serial starts with LEH173.

I heard that there is a new version of the D2C chip, so If mine is the new D2C chip the current mod chips wouldn't work for my wii right?

does anyone have the same serial as mine and have installed one of the current mod chips, does it work?

thanks in advance

Evidently there is a way to tell if you have a newer D2C that is unmodable at this time. The drive spindle is different.

For images go HERE and look at the difference at the top of each spindle of old and new.

You will need a Jtag programmer to program the 9 wire firmware onto the Modchip. As of now the 13 +4 firmware comes pre-installed. Once you get the 9 wire firmware onto the Modchip then from then on it can be updated via DVD.

I would get an Infectus2 instead of an ARGON. They are made by the same team. The Infectus2 comes with a programmer where you need to buy the Jtag Programmer separate when ordering a ARGON this making it cheaper to go the Infectus2 route.

The 9 wire firmware is in beta stage for ARGON which an updated firmware for it was released a day ago and it seems to be getting good results. 9 wire firmware for Infectus2 has been out for a while and has been finalized.
