I have a file that was on video and a friend used a dvd burner to put it on dvd, it is saved as an iso file. There are some problems with the video - it gets sort of 'shimmery'. I tried VTS Fix, but it couldn't see the iso file. Is there any way that I can fix this iso file?

Most likely not, data appears to be corrupted.

Try mounting the iso file using Alchohol. View the DVD video files (.vob) with a player such as VLC. Check for the shimmery condition in the files. If it appears clear, then it could be a problem with the burn, or the media you are using. Run a CRC scan on the DVD with the video files that appear shimmery. Check the bitrate. Data is probably corrupted though. There is no way to fix that. I can help you if you send me the iso file, and then I can check it out. Most likely, like iluvendo said, the data is corrupted and it cant be fixed.

You can open the ISO in DVD Shrink (File -> Open Image) and back it up to a folder as standard DVD Files. As to what you do with it then, your guess is as good as mine. I've never heard of 'shimmery' video.

Hi there

DVD Shrink can't see the file, which I why I was stuck.

Shimmery - not sure how to explain. The first half of the movie plays fine and then it starts getting wavy at the edges of the image and the whole picture distorts. Perhaps I should say shivery instead.

also open the iso in winrar to see what files are inside, or use isobuster, or ultraiso

shimery sounds like cheap dvdrs used or bad converting sofware
