Does box have a security tab?

Just got my PS3, if was a free gift with my mobile contract.
Question is should there be a security tab on new ps3 boxes? As the one I have is obviously a returned/second hand or refurbished as there is only clear selotape on it.

by any chance do you mean the warrenty(if you break this your on your own sucker) sticker?
i have no device to take photos until this evening to show what i have(i have a untampered 40 gb from new)

Ah, I think I know what you're talking about now. It must be a refurbished system that came back from a warranty claim because whenever you send in for a warranty claim for the PS3 you have to cut off that part of the box. You might want to look into getting it back because without it you essentially have no warranty.

Sorry i didnt get an email about anyone replying.
I have not opened the box yet, everything is still inside. What I mean is on the flap shouldnt there be a tamper proof sticker or something so that you know noone has opened the box before? Cos mine has 2 strips of clear sellotape on it.

... i just lol'ed. i never use the term lol as people rarly laugh out loud but i did just laugh. On the box i didn't have a tamper proof sticker just sellotape. i had a GT5P 40 gb. best way to tell if its 2nd hand is when booting up if it asks to name the console and such, also look at the wrapping of the console, controllers and leads.

I read somewhere else that the box comes with a tamper proof sticker on it. But if they come sealed with a bit of tape, then yeah I'll open it tonight and if the contoller and leads are not sealed then I'll know for sure. Thanks

I think I misunderstood AGAIN do you just mean like a transparant sticker that goes over the box lid to keep it shut?

There's a photo of it, you canjust make out that there are two strips of tape there. The original one tha thas been cut and a second shorter piece of tape at a sligt angle to it.
i dontknow if onestopphoneshop have bought refurbished consoles from Sony themselves or f this is a returned product.

ok i just looked at my box and i have the exact same thing and mine was brand new.
it has completly indentical to yours a piece of normal see-through tape at the white corner and another one over the top of the first at an angle (my one slants to the left not the right like yours)
assuming that the tape hasn't been stuck back on(impossible) you can guarentee that is brand new or at least sony themselves have packaged it into a new box.
question was it a 60 gb?

No it is a 40GB. Also the first tape, the one with aligned with the white corner, that one has already been cut with the second one placed on top. Was your fisrt one already cut as well?

Not sure if its use is big on this forum but OP stands for Original poster.
i was saying it so others do not think that i was well the original poster after saying that i didn't have a device to take photos(something which a OP would say in that situation).
with my box im not too sure. alot of dust has collected but it is not a straight clean cut, it is simular to the cut i made with a pen/sharp pointed object.

My 40GB came with an official looking silver foil sticker covering the tap. None of the scotch tape crap.
