.. to my question. i want to mod my xbox elite. It has a benq drive in it. First i was really up for doing it as i can play backups then,
"however" its a gamble because MS can block ur live account (only hapns 2 sum ppl but i hapns all the sme). This has put me in abit of a predicament though ive gt an idea, just want to know what you guys think... as youve prolly guessd im no 360 xpert so your input is appreciated (though take it easy, like i sed im no xpert).
what if i use 2 drives. i have my original drive to play online, and just buy a flashed drive (or flash another drive myself)so i can play backups.
i really wudnt mind it sitting next to the 360. My question is 1 is it feasable.. i mean can u switch xbox drives and have them working properly without the box making a big fuss,
and secondly is there a device that maybe sum1 like team xecuter have created that allows you to switch from 1 drive to another.
i know it sounds ridiculous but if the xbox did not reject the second drive then i think the whole process would work and ideally al we would have to do is flip a switch and use the original drive for online games, flip the switch to the other drive and play backupgames on that (that is ideally). abit of hassle but better then gettin blockd i think...
please dont slate me, its just an idea, ive only recently gt ma 360 elite.. and its A-mazin...lol
i just dont want to flash and then gt bannd off live.. cuz GTA is mint on there lol haha

ive just realised that the modchip "NME 360 V2" disables your network connection when playing backups.. that wud fix the problem and be alot easier... cool never new that. any thoughts on this mod chip are also more then welcome. it says that although this modchip works on benq drives you have to mnually switch (tel it) wether it is a backup game or original... abit annoyin :( ... maybe that will be fixd in the next version.. might wait..

It doesn't matter. Do a search on the fourums and you'll see. The theory is that the mobo itself makes a log of games played and then when you connect to live it sends the data to MS. I haven't read where anyone knows what the data is that MS is looking for but plenty of people have said that their console was banned either with chips or flashed drives.
What we really need is a two-state modchip similar to the old Xbox, one state is retail and the other is modded. The modded state could have an inbuilt function to stop sny such logging information. Or better yet, a custom programmed dashboard, much like the old Xbox.
Good idea in theory, but I don't think the information on banned consoles is sent to the DVD drive but rather the motherboard. I've heard of people using dvd drives from banned consoles and then working fine, so i don't think it woudl really work.
your best bet would be to buy a new or used system and mod that one.
trust me i am sure the wheels are turning in someones head as we speak. that is a good idea. if that is in fact what ms is looking for. if we had an insider it would be much easier.
true, ive now read that the drive being flashed does nto matter and that all inserted disks are logged and sent to ms via live.... thats bad. Think il just be waiting for a full mod which maybe deletes the logs (no idea when that will come out though)

if thats the case then they did change the models of the drives or boards in order for this mathod of finding those who have mod it or flashed it and they can be found via live? so won't it be a good bet just not go live at all? i mean yeah it would be a safer way of not getting your system trashed. but you lose out on one of the great reason the system was made to play online hmmmmm.........
you go online and when you get caught your done. dont stay offline in a corner for your xbox career. when it gets banned buy a new one and play legit copies on xbl and use your other console to play your backups offline on.
