Bought it modded in thailand so dont know what chip it is.

Cant get a few games to work so might look into getting a new chip.

It is a D2CKey.

As far as I know all games work perfectly fine on D2CKey when using the proper region game disc.

If these game disc are USA or PAL games then the game disc might not be region compatible.

It looks like you might have region override disabled. I can't tell if jumper 1 and jumper 2 are closed or not due to glare from the flash. If they are open then region override is disabled and you will need to close both jumpers to enable region override to play USA/PAL game disc. If there is solder on both jumpers closing the connection then region override is enabled.

Your serial # shows you have a NTSC(J) unit. So you need to close jumper 1 and jumper 2 to enable region override for your Japanese Wii.

What is the game title?
What region is it?

HERE is a compatibility list that shows what out of region games are compatible and what games are not. There are 2 parts to this list PAL to NTSC(J) and NTSC(U) to NTSC(J). Find the game title under the proper list and it will tell you whether it is region compatible or not.

If your using out of region game disc make sure your Wii is updated to the latest update to avoid bricking/semi-bricking the Wii.

mario kart pal + usa

Wii fit pal


I have other pal + us games that work fine.


Where abouts are the region overide jumpers?

The games you mention need firmware 3.2 as far as I know, are you sure your WII is updated?

Yep I updated via the internet to 3.2j

I have tried all the various techniques to get those games to work

I use verbatim dvd-r and burn at 4x and get the black screen of death.

Wondering whether its worth getting a new modchip....ones that upgradeable like the wiikey ?

Anyone know how to set the region override jumpers?

The installation guides are not very clear on this.

ok I've seen an image of a new chip so I can see on my chip that the jpn1 and jpn2 jumpers have been soldered so its region override enabled

If other out of region backups and normal backups work the Modchip is installed and working properly.

So you either have a bad backup copy or bad burn.
