Today I went to install a new game on my Mem card, the file was to large for the space I had so I deleated one game to make room...still won't fit... ok I guess I figured the numbers wrong in my head so I'll deleate another game... still won't fit!!!. WTF! so I back out of the USB connect and look at the mem stick...the games deleated BUT I still have only 116 megs of free space! WTF! I pop out the mem stick and put it back in... still 116 meg... pop it out and reboot my PSP... still 116 meg... go back to my USB connect and look at the disk in windows(XP SP2 BTW) and I show 116 meg free... WTF! I never could figure out why the mem stick didn't free up the space like it should have.

What I ended up doing is copying the files off my mem stick to my PC... FORMATED the mem stick and put the EXACT SAME FILES BACK ON... now I show over 800 meg free space! installed the game I wanted to try out and haven't had a problem since.

This mem stick is new... been using it about a week now... real deal sony 4 gig card, CFW 3.90 m33-3 on my phat psp... I used one scandisk 2 gig and another real deal sony 2 gig before I picked up the 4 gig... NEVER had this happen with either of these 2 gig cards

Have any of you guy's had this happen to you? any idead what caused it? mem stick problem or PSP?

Same thing happened to me yesterday mate.
I had to get rid of all my music and videos, even some SNES and GBA roms, and still I had just a little room left. I haven't formatted it like you did though, but I did delete some games, then put them back on again, and voilá!!! It freed some space. Crazy.
