I have being looking around and have been see a lot of problem with the argon chip, and now I'm not sure should I use the argon chip.

for the people who have the argon chip, what do you think of it and do you get a lot problem and are these problem fixed by firmware updates?

and would you recommed it and maybe which chip would you recommend the 9 or 17 wires?

thanks

I have a ARGON with 13 +4 wire install 1.8 firmware. I have had no problems at all with it. If users have had issues it usually was due to bad instillation not the Modchip.

The 9 wire install is a work in progress. The 9 wire is stable on some D2C drives but have some issues with later D2C drives. The issue with those drives is the Wii will reset when you hit the eject button. This issue is being worked on.

As for the new D2C2 drives neither of the firmware versions work on it but this is the case for all Modchips. However supposedly the Infectus team is releasing a firmware update next week that will work on the D2C2 drives. If this happens then Infectus will be the first and as of now the only 1 to offer a solution to those new D2C2 drives. Other Modchip teams claim a new Modchip revision will be needed to support the new drive boards. I guess time will tell.

All in all I love my 13 +4/1.8 ARGON set up. It works perfect and I have had no issues. I will probably change over to the 9 wire install once it becomes stable for all versions. Eventually the 9 wire install will have more options (setup/utility disc that can change settings on SPI Flash) but I will not change over till it is proved to be stable.
