A lot of box suppliers include an rs232 cable, which will not work. The 2 cables look the same, have the same 9-pin ends on them, but they are wired differently internally. This confusion over rs232 & null modem has been going on for a long time.

i've just read up on those 2 cables and the wires on the null cable are reversed.

Just set on PAL-1 that will do - it is the UK output setting.

No not really, and it should be saying RF Channel 38 just leave it at that.

Hi i also have starview (genuine) with a similar problem. It started freezing every so often and now it cuts out on startup. Or within a few seconds of the channel coming on. I've never updated the software or firmware and was wondering if anyone could help. Could this be a software problem or is it faulty hardware?
Thanks.

If its a starview 1,
Flash it with the crypstar V1.4- Core 2.57 bin & see if that helps.
You`ll find it in the starview folder in eamo`s library under my sig.
All updating info, cables etc are in the second link under my sig.

@noelyf or anyone else that may know the answer..is the starview box(w/usb) or eurovox(i know it says euro in the title) just for ireland and the uk? or can it be used in the US?..if it can be used in the US, does anyone know a link to the US firmware? thinking about getting one, just not sure if it will work or not..googled but haven't really come up with any answers..if anyone knows of a box that will work in the same fashion, would like to know which one would work..also i have cable with the factory stb(which sucks..haha), but not satellite..thanks in advance
