hi

I am using an acer travelmate 5520laptop and the standard fitted dvd writer to burn backups of my games.
the media im using is BULKPAQ DVD+R DL Branded CMC. i managed to burn 1 dvd. It actually plays the intro the the game but and then goes to the error message saying that the disk is unreadable and needs to be cleaned (but disk is immaculate)
http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?la...4dfec34090f59ad

could it be that my media is shoddy or my dvd writer just plain crap?

Also would it be a good idea for me to use an external writer like liteon philips etc

most likely your media as those are quite cheap. Try getting some better quality media and they will most likely work.

BulkPaq are most definitely not to be allowed near burners or standalone players, they fake reputable companies' disks.

homesick - as i replied to in your PM and in the other post, we regulars advise posters on using decent media (ie including Verbatim) many times a day, in many different forums, under various different topics. I see you only ever post in the 360 forum, you need to pop your head outside and see how just how many other forums we have here then you'll see all the Verbatim recommendations.

i know, i am a firm believer in their media for both 360 and the pc, i just think it would be *sufficant* (sorry for spelling) to put that at the top of this particular forum since it seems to be the #1 problem among users. at least with a pc you have some options. but as you know with a 360 its pretty much the only option. I just think people would see it if it was bold and blue (although I know some ingore bold and blue) and maybe save themselves some money thats all.

thanx for your help guys....i think ive resolved the issue.
The Bulkpaq disks work fine and load up pretty quickly (gta4 is a little slow but ive heard its supposed to be a little slower loading up)...i bought a liteon external writer and it works a treat.
