Ok, I have a BenQ ixtream 12x and am using Verbatim disks. GTA 4 & and all other backup ran fine with no problems. Last week, I burned NHL08 to a Memorex DL disk because I ran out of Verbatim and it ran fine, playing it off and on for about a week, with no problems. I went back to GTA 4 and now the textures load really slowly, almost to the point where it is unplayable. Just now, I tried to play Mass Effect, a game that never gave me problems, and the textures load slowly on that too. I?ve tried clearing the cache on the hard drive, changing the HD video output, added extra cooling, used compress air to clean out dust and a CD lens cleaning disk? nothing seems to work. The xbox is less than 3 months old, bought brand new.
Did I mess up my drive laser by using the Memorex disk? I can?t find any info on what to do. Any suggestions?
yes thats why we preach not to use bad media. however if you cant get it going try changing your drive speed to 10x or 8x. i have mine set at 8x and never have had a problem, on anything ever. let us know what happens so we can go further if we need to.
Dont know what the problem could be, sounds like it's the drive. Oh yea the Benq drives are so friggin easy to flash and backup 360 games using the 0800 firmware. Had to say that.. I loves the Benq!
A good friend of mine and I both use memorex. They ran for a dollar a disc (on sale at best buy) opposed to the 2 or 3 dollars a disc for the verbatim discs. We've had no problems and between three of us (another followed our lead and did the same as us) very few discs have become coasters. It's unlikely that using memorex has done anything. They're hardly bad media.
GTA a Benq drive problem. For some reason GTA acts like this on Benq drive. It's been reported even with retail copies of the game. With the Mass Effect having issue too you may be experiencing a combo on the GTA problem and maybe the media on top of that.
