Seriously, I am getting absolutely fed up. At first... I played the game, had some fun and whatever, but I also like to keep my VR high. I feel as though even if it's just a game, I deserve it, but what is with these hacks that have recently hit the scene?

The first time, I had my VR at 9,792. I connected to a group mostly riding in Japan, and I was watching the race before mine.

As I am watching, the guy in 1st place is crashing in walls, falling off things, staying completely still, but it would last for about 6 seconds, and then he'd magically appear way ahead of the course.

Next thing I noticed is that this guy also seemed to be... two people. Yah, weird. There was 2 karts for this guy with the same character in the same race under the same name. He ended up winning the race and I didn't get how.

Next thing, I finally connect to my race. The traffic light stands still in a freeze for about 15 seconds, and next thing I know, I'm disconnected! I go back in and re-connect, and my VR has magically turned to 7,970!

I got a little upset, but shrugged it off. I decided to just regain my VR again. Eventually my VR hit 10,265.

Guess what? I connected to a game and watched before-hand the SAME exact thing happen at a previous time... and when it disconnected, my VR dropped to 8,003! This time it was a German.

You know... I do just enjoy the game for the game, but I don't enjoy it when my hard-earned winnings are stolen from me like that by people who can't play by regulation and have to cheat.

Is there any news or articles on this cheat/hack? I can't seem to actually find anything, which is why I'm here. I want to see how they do this, and if there is a way to avoid these people from taking your VR, or doing whatever they do with it. I'm just looking for any resolve, or even information on this. Any idea's?

it just sounds to me like you have a bad internet connection. it seems like your just lagging and then getting disconnected because of a weak signal or something. and since you disconnected after you entered the race, you lost your VR points.

could be a hacker, i dont know everything about it. but i think its just you and your internet.

Ya, it sounds like lag to me. I used to see similar things in ragnarok online, where someone would walk around a corner then suddenly zip through walls back to where they were before.

I would think that at first, but my connection is mint. Not just that, but when I play, I only play for an hour at a time. Maybe earn a good 100 VR a day, more or less... but on those 2 occasions, I wouldn't lose what I earned on that day. I lost a good few hundred out of no where. A few days of work just...gone. That's pretty unfair. It would make sense if I lost what I earned during the on-time of the game and what I earned during that time, but an unimaginable amount just vanishes. It just isn't adding up to me. Plus, it's not the first time something went a little weird.

During one game, I remember one player actually speeding with a boost the whole race while doing a wheely the entire time, and was even skimming through the grass, and I'm not being overconfident, but I'm pretty damn good and have only double-digit loses, and a few thousand wins in my records, and it's rare I'm not in first, or at the least second... but i got absolutely dominated. Before that exact game, I watched it, and thought I was seeing things, but shells literally went through the guy, and he never fell on objects in the road, although he DID shrink. After racing him, I quit the game and started a new one while still connected to the WFC, so it couldn't be my connection fooling with me.

Back to that guy who I am accusing of hacking/cheating; I knew something was up. Earlier in the same day, I raced against someone else that had 2 names & characters registered in the same race, and he was acting a little weird himself, and would magically appear behind me when I was in first. It was like i was watching him glitch forward. I kinda assumed he was new at the cheat or hack, because he clearly used it, but still couldn't win and get the hang of it or something. I still managed first.

Maybe this is a fault of Nintendo? I also recently considered this: If maybe you're racing, and you turn off the console during online play, you lose the points you earned during the game's on-time as a penalty for not accepting a loss... but what if you just accidently disconnect from the Wifi? People can't control that, so should players really suffer for that? to test that, since my VR is now CRAP again, I'm gonna play a race, turn off the console, and see what happens when I check my VR. Still doesn't explain the odd double-players and the 'somehow skipping to a point in the course magically' problem.

Yeah just now. Apparently when you DC or turn off the console while connected to a race, Nintendo deducts a random mass of VR points from you. I tried it about 3 times and my VR would drop in different amounts.

Not understanding how I DC with a beautiful connection though. I've even played with my PC turned off so there's no firewall security covering the network... but still... I managed to run in to what i STILL believe is a hacker, and not a lagged/lost connection.

This isn't right on Nintendo's part. Seems you can't take VR serious anyway, so why bother gaining it?

It's still good fun though. Just a little pissed I have to see my earnings get blown away for nothing. I would have an INSANE amount of VR right now, higher than anyone I've ever seen. Such a shame I can't prove it. Especially with my now 5,048 VR from purposefuly turning my console off. Haha.

Look on the bright side with such a low VR you won't race the hackers anymore you'll race players like me (on about 5300VR) who don't take it too seriously and would never cheat.

The more VR, the better the odds are that you match up with better players more suitable to play with you - if available, that is.

Plus, they're fun to show off.

Kinda takes the fun out of it for me though when you have a DC issue like I stated because it's too easy to win when playing with lesser skilled players. Why play a game with no competition? It's like I have to spend a week or two of racing just to get enough Vr to play someone good enough.

Yeah, I guess you're right, but I find myself bored with the game if I'm always in first place. At least with higher VR, I get a run for my money.

I was watching the mario kart review on ign a few days ago and noticed that when they were connecting for an online game, a character appeared twice in screen where you see who you opponents are.
On the next screen I think the duplicate was removed, but I m not sure.
It could be a case where the dublicate wasn't removed and the race is buggy. Could also be the reason why you were watching this guy hitting on objects and falling off cliffs. Both characters were controlled by the same wii remote but because of different placement on the starting grid, the buggy one would hit on things because the player only sees the one of them.

This is the first time I have ever seen this, but this happened to me today:

Was racing and clearly finished in 1st, then when the results came up it said I had gotten 3rd and 2 players (one a normal player, one a guest) finished 1st and 2nd. I was confused but decided to shrug it off.
After an incredibly long loading screen, only me and those 2 players raced the next time around. As I was racing, I was in 1st and then appearing out of nowhere the 2 players appear right in front of me for about 2 seconds, then out of nowhere disappear. Throughout the race they kept doing this, just placing themselves wherever they wanted on the track. Twice an invisible item dropped on top of me out of nowhere.

Has anyone seen anything like that?

This actually sound funny to me....
All these incidents sound exactly like Internet problems except the one with Duplicate players.
The last post;
It could be that either you or the 2 oponents internet wasn't fast enough or something else was happening with the internet while you raced.
By that I mean if the oponent's had a slower connection like say 256kbps DSL and upload of Something like 64kbps then the game would maybe manage to connect but their cars would jump and so would yours to them because of their net's slower speed the reason why there cars jump etc is because the connection is say working 100% but a 64kbps upload speed isnt enough to exactly upload every little detail pinpointed instead it just does what it can puts in parts it can do and this is why you get a rough picture of the oponents.
For the first poster how do you know you have a great internet connection tell me your speed? Upload and Download.

It's just lag dude.

Bear in mind the speeds of cable in Japan/Korea - they're astronomical compared to US/Europe.

No bad internet connection.

I have witnessed this as well with mario kart and it isn't a bad connection in fact i have seen several mod chip drive chip users online you can tell because it shows the players name and no country which sucks i payed good money to play online for mario kart and these cheap lazy hackers are destroying the game for all of us get off your cans and purchase the game.

You want to here my Experiance.

Ok we were racing in gcn peach beach and i watched as a drive chip user drove his vehicle through a solid wall and came out the other side and it counted him as completing a lap without doing a single one then we get into another race on the island delfino race course and the little snot nosed hacker just sat there and it counted him as completing all 3 laps what the heck he didn't even move so i thought i would report this issue to nintendo and got no response how lame.

yeah theres no way mine could have been bad internet connection. the first time i raced against these people, they weren't around me or any of the 10 other players during the race. at the very end when it still said "1st" after i crossed the finish line, the results appeared that they had gotten 1st and 2nd.

then the 2nd lap is when i saw them jumping in front of me. and mind that is always said 1st place until they would appear feet in front of me then it would say 3rd. once one of them appeared in the air.

Last poster, sounds like a network problem. Your net is having troubles so it has no clue what position you are and once it manages to get somewhere it figures your actually behind the others, I doubt there is hackers going around if there were it would be all over the net by now, not just this one thread on the entire earth. If i start seeing these things or if more reports through other forums too and the reports arent as simple as he is no where then he appears or jumping or late results they all sound like connection problems, otherwise to prove me wrong tell me your nets speeds Download/Upload or do a speedtest.

It doesnt show a country unless you sign up to the extra options.

There used to be a problem with people getting quick laptimes by sitting by the finish line, but i think thats been closed out now.

No need to be a dick because you can't take my honesty. Could it be jealousy? It's just a game, man. Calm down. Some people just want to get their money's worth though =]

My speeds are pretty mint. I have a 100.0 MBPS Cable connection. My Download speed is 9837kb/s and Upload speed is 712kb/s. My average US Ping is 6. When I play MKWii I always have my PC off. My Netgear Router relays my speeds signal at an average of 92% consistancy up to 50 feet away.

That is true. Their speeds are up to 15x's what we consider good in the states. I puked at the thought of internet in Japan when I saw those amazing speeds.

I've got no idea what the hell you're talking about when you say I repeated posts to increase the number...? WHAT? I'll ignore whatever that means until you reiterate because as far as I know, I just qouted and replied to posts properly.

As for the link, I shall edit the link out now. Thanks for the information on that.

How difficult is it to understand ?

You posted 3 different posts in a row in this thread when no one else posted anything !!!

And now you seem to be telling a mod they are wrong and you will ignore them. Guess you won't be around for long.
