I just had a new computer built which included a DVD burner. Sony DWU14a.
I was able to burn one DVD and one CD then it stopped working. The drive's light would stay orange and it won't recognize any type of disk put in it.
I brought it back to the people who built it and they replaced the burner with a new one but the same model. Again, I was able to burn 1 DVD and 1 CD then it stopped working. I tried reloading the software which came with the burner, NTI DVD maker but that didn't help.
I was trying to burn a video I made using Pinnacle studio 8 which must come with it's own burning program since you can burn from that program. The first attempt worked fine. After being sucessful, I decided to check out burning CDs which also worked fine, this time using NTI DVD maker. I then tried to use Pinnacle to burn another DVD and this is when I realized the burner had stopped working.
When I put a blank DVD or CD in the drive, nothing happens except the orange light stays on. Same thing when I put a disk with any type of program on it.
Any suggestions on what I could try to make this work again or is this model known for breaking down after a couple uses?
