I bought a broke 360 off of a friend, he told me that the drive was shot. I've been looking and have found ways to swap the drives but there is one problem. I bought the 360 to be used as a dedicated server for some of the games that my clans plays. I remember reading that Microsoft is banning consoles for xbl if they are modded. Is there anyway that i can replace the drives, without getting the console flagged for banning. The original drive wont spin the disk, so i assume that key chip is still good. It tries to spin but only makes it about 1/4 of a turn, and stops.

Buy the same model and version drive. There's usually a good selection of new drives on eBay. Then just swap out the board from the bad drive in to the good drive.
