Snes9x Homebrew Emulator Error

Hello all, I recently installed the Homebrew Channel on my Wii, and so far so good with the apps I've downloaded and installed.

My problem however, is loading ROMs with the Wii port of the Super Nintendo emulator Snes9x (and before anybody asks, YES, I legally own the games I would like to use on Snes9x). I select "Load New Game" from the menu and set the option to load the ROM directory from the front SD card slot. When I press A to load the directory, I receive the following error message:

"loaddir (/snes9x/roms) failed to load with -1".

I also receive "Unable to read (/snes9x/roms)".

The ROMs I have are in .smc format, and I know that SD cards can be used to load the ROMs after having a friend demonstrate it for me; and no, he did not use an SD Gecko. The ROMs are also in the directory specified.

Could somebody please provide me with a solution to this problem? Thanks!

EDIT: I am also using the most recent official version, which is version 0.1.1. That is also the version my friend used.
