DVDFab won't complete the DVD to AVI

I have made some backups using Nero to create a source avi to dvd.

I no longer have the source avi.

DVDFab has worked for me using the 'generic' option
to make and compress an AVI.

Both these tools work. And DVDFab works on most dvds.

But these ones made with Nero won't complete.

Preview in DVDFab shows the whole video and audio is on there
but it won't extract.

Is there a different free tool to get dvd made with Nero back to
complete AVI?

what version dvdfab you got?

I'll go test the DVDShrink suggestion:

Yes, main movie is found by DVDShrink.

I do not know the best way to extract it to do the following:

I wish to run the compression process in AVI Recomp.

This requires an original avi single file.

There's so many different processes and steps for this stuff, I may just have forgotten something. What I know is that the backups I made
in DVDFab 1.) show the proper file size and attributes in GSpot but
2.) cannot be exported to the compression program AVI Recomp and 3.) the Fab file won't play in VLC.

Fab is an older version. Most of these programs I use are older.

Sure, Xvid is always on here and I think it auto installs with AVI Recomp. The suite of programs installs from the exe file.

AVI Sync and all the rest of them are part of the setup package in
AVI Recomp and Auto Gordian Knot.

I have been using this stuff for a while but it's pretty complicated.
Plus I am not using it every day and I forget things. Surprising but true. :-)


I don't know a lot of the techniques in video. So I'm glad that things like DVDFab work pretty much intuitively. I don't know why this failed unless I missed a recoding step someplace: a program needed to get the content ready for AVI Recomp.

i wonder if its the audio in the avi?

nero can output ac3 2.1 and 5.1 and mp3 and lcpm

what does avi recomp accept?

and what is dvdfab outputing? as there are a few option in GENERIC for avi type and audio, whats yours set at?

I found a different copy of the files. I tested the video in
vlc for completeness.

I'm going to give it another whirl with one of these samples.

Be back when completed.

Use DVD Shrink and Any DVD to extract iso save it on your Desktop

Then use Hand Brake its free You Use it to convert dvd to avi in about 2 hour

Or Use ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum v5.0

I Have both I USe Imtoo to Dvd Tv Series and Handbrake to do movies
Then Stream Every Thing Via Xbox Media Center

Well for the moment I've dodged the bullet: I found my
original AVI Recomp set. I cannot explore the problem further without
wasting a lot of time.

Thanks to those who responded.

When I found these, I quickly used Nero to make data cds of the
individual files for safety.
