File Type Burn Question

Ok I just burnt a back up copy of a game. It was an iso file format. Put it in my Xbox 360 and the drive, screen went black as if loading,the dvd-rom drive made a terrible crunching type noise and popped back out to the Dashboard Screen with the disc error "clean disc and/or restart". So I restarted the system and now RRoD. WTF? This was the first file i have burnt that was just a ISO file format the rest had a DVD file format with them to burn it (i.e. select the DVD file format to burn NOT the ISO). Does it not work if you just burn the ISO file? Can I make a DVD file somehow? I am still a noob and could use the help.

when you burn an ISO file you have to manually set the layer break, that is part of what is in that small DVD file you get.

here is how to do it in IMGburn:
tools-->settings-->write-->layer break. Check user specified and set it to 1913760. Click ok and burn as normal. This is only necessary the first time burning a 360 game

You can make a .dvd manually in notepad.

type the full name of the ISO including the extension.
Second line: type in Layerbreak= 1913760

save as gamename.dvd
