I used the x-clamp mod fixs and my xboxs been going for well over 7 months with no problems..put new artic silver 5 on got rid of those nasty x-clamps and put bolts and washer on and it works like a charm! also had to heat it up with a hot gun when new artic was place on just to make sure the solder joints where there..i also did the 12volt fan mod to my xbox360 it helps keep all my work nice and cold..like i said been at least 6-7 months no problems..

i did the xclamp fix worked for 1 month and it died. Now xclamp artic silver 5 doesnt bring it back to life. I am guessing my 360 is dead. If i put my modded dvd drive on another 360 system will that work?

Not unless you have the dvd drive key that matches the other mobo and are confident with flashing ;) then it's a piece of cake.

if it stop working after you did the x clamp mod you need to heat the system up by using the hot gun mod..your solder joints weren't perfectly connected the first time..you need to reheat them good..
