So, I'm a bit of a Wii noob, but have done plenty of reading about all this stuff. Anyway, here's the facts as I know them, maybe someone can help me out.
I have a Japanese Wii (bought pre-chipped with unknown chip) which I assume is PAL. I can find no indication that it's anything else. My TV does both PAL and NTSC so rule that way of testing out. I have a Wii Fit, also Japanese, there's no PAL or NTSC labels on the disc or box. Is there any way to verify it? The current firmware version is 3.2J.
I've downloaded a PAL version of the Wii Fit disc and burned it, it wants an update. I used Brickblocker and burned it, this shows up in the channel menu but the Nintendo copyright logo is a bit messed up - it says it twice with 2007 and 2008 kinda written over each other. It doesn't require an update, but just displays a black screen when started. I assume it's because of the language so I took the tutorial to change languages using Trucha Signer 0.21. But, when I open the iso, Trucha Signer stops responding and continues to suck up all available memory until my system eventually overheats and shuts off.
(Tutorial it took is the one listed by scoobster on thisthread.)
Is there any other way besides Trucha Signer to extract the main.dol file and then reinsert it? Any other input would also be helpful.
Cheers.

No, you've not done enough reading - if you checked the sticky with all the FAQs, one of the first threads linked there states that there are PAL, NTSC(J) and NTSC(U) models.
So your Japanese Wii is NTSC, and all Japanese games are NTSC.

yes all japanese consoles are ntsc-j; the pal wii fit u got i assume has the update 3.1E_v2 in it, which therefore u should get the same one but in japan region which is 3.1J_v2. 3.1J_v2 is the update of the jap super smash bros brawl. If u can play it then u should be good to go by just using the trucha signer method if u come across a black screen at boot up.
However; since i myself own a jap wii, i recommend getting the vortex release of the ntsc-U wii fit. all i did is brick blocked it and it ran fine on my wii.

Awesome, this is the info that I wanted to see. Much obliged. Regarding the update contained in the PAL disc I downloaded - I couldn't say for sure - but it's the AMBITION release.
I'll download the Vortex release directly, and in the meantime look out for super smash bros brawl - jap games are a dime a dozen here.

egrialuca, you were right. The Vortex release worked a treat with Brick Blocker. Now, I'm just hoping the same will hold true for Pokemon Battle Revolution. Cheers!

Please don't post links for download locations. Piracy = not cool.

everything you need is on this forum save that once you have downloaded the vortex release, you will need to extract the files (select them all and then right click and extract all using winrar), then run brick blocker, then burn the iso as an image file (not a data file) using nero onto a dvd-r. Then just play!

Hi all
I haven't done any research before I bought the Wii Fit and now I am facing the same problem. Our Wii console is a japanese chipped one and I just found out the Wii Fit we got from the local shop yesterday is a Pal only.
So can anyone tell me what can I do/download to make the Wii Fit playable on our console?
