i am trying to install a d2pro with wii clip. however the red light blinks once really fast when wii first turned on after that it stays red the whole time. when i put in either an original or backup disc it wont recognize either of them. the drive spins then it makes a clik sound and stops and i get the disc error on the tv. the blue light on the d2pro never comes on. do i need to get a d2programer and update firmware, does the chip even come with firmware installed or is the chip bad and needing to be replaced? i was never able to play any discs at all either originals or backups.
I'm having the exact same problem as Hatter, with my D2Pro chip that was presoldered by www.modchipcentral.com:
- I turn on the Wii, and I can see the red light come on.
- I put in a backup disc. The Wii spins the disc and I can hear a faint beep, and then it seems to slow down.
- The Wii spins the disc again and then stops.
- I then go to the Wii channel interface and click on the disc.
- It tries to spin it for about 2 seconds, then says unable to read game disc.
I've tried with the following backups: Mario-Kart [Wii], Endless Ocean [Wii], Naruto [Wii], No More Heroes [Wii], and a Zelda compilation for GameCube.
I've tried burning the ISOs onto SonyDVD-R's at 2X, Maxell DVD-R's at 2X, and Verbatim DVD-R's at 2X, 4X, and 8X.
I've tried re-seating the d2Pro chip 5 or 6 times.
My next step is going to try and check the solder points, but I don't know how. I'm trying to find a resource on the web that will tell me how to do that with a multimeter but haven't had any luck yet.
See my post above, are you sure the chip is compatible? The d2pro will not work on a d2c chipset, which could be ur problem. Just confirm this first then we can start eliminating other possibilities.

Are you sure this is not compatible?
most sites say: "- Supports all D2C chipset versions, including D1A"
Quote:From d2pro.com:
Compatible with DMS, D2A, D2B, D2C and D2C2* chipsets
Can someone please show me where the d2pro is not compatible with the D2C chip. I am about to order it tonight, and need to know.
i am pretty sure i have the d2c chipset. one chip says gc2-d2c the other gc2-d1a with some numbers below it. i agree all the sites ive been to say that d2pro is compatible with d2c chipset even the d1a chipset. i am pushing down very hard to point of the card starting to bend, i dont think i can push any harder. i am even leaning down on to it to try to get extra weight on it. i also do not have the extra 2 letters/numbers below the drive serial so am pretty sure it is not the d2c2 chipset. as far as media wont play anything original or backups. for backups i am using verbatim dvd-r recorded at 1-2x tried a couple at different speeds.
Sorry can't figure out how to edit my orginal post so ignore me for double posting, a bit more research and i see that if you do have the d2c2 chipset u need the 9 wire version of the d2pro.
I got my D2Pro and wii-clip today and install went easy. I was just thinking about setting up the region free just in case I want to play any down the road. Just to confirm:
I already soldered points 5, 6, 7, and 8 from the d2pro chip to to wii-clip.
So the question is, do I solder a wire from those solder points already made to the points on the wii drive in the diagram?
Essentially 3 points will be soldered together for each of those 4 spots (the wii-clip, the mod chip, and the wire that goes to its respective point on the drive)
I also plan to close jumper 1 on the D2pro since I own a US (NTSC) Wii)
