wow, $84.95 way too expensive???

I currently found below cheaper price, 73.37 USD with EMS.

D2pro9 V2 for D2C2 $38.75
WII-CLIP Version 4C (V4C) for D2Pro-9 chip $9.89
EMS $24.73

http://www.volumerate.com/details.vr/sku.60205

the problem is have to solder by my own. but compared price, i'd rather the cheaper one.

Looking at their FAQ - it seems they're in China (judging by the phone number) - for 5/6 of the planet that makes them "international" ;)

well on the same site http://www.canadamods.ca you can buy the d2pro9 revision 2 for $45
and you can buy the clip for $25 which is $70 and shipping is flat rate based on your location, you can add as many items.

There $15 extra charge is for soldering and testing of the product as well as the fact that you are getting an authentic d2pro9 revision 2 and an authentic wiiclip. Clones of both exist.
If you check www.d2pro.com you will see canadamods is a distributor
and www.wii-clip.com you will see canadamods as a reseller.

So you know both products will be authentic, and not just a false claim that its authentic.

Considering that these were $100 when they were first released the pricing now seems very fair. Especially if requesting to add the free triwing.

Sometimes its about quality, if you want something solder right and tested to help eliminate issues then sometimes it helps to go with a known place.

My current systems :)
V12 DMS4 Lite with summ0ne fix
Xbox 1.6 - Xecuter 3 w 300GB HDD
Xbox 360 - Sammy Drive with ixtrem 1.2
Wii Rev 1.0 - Authentic Wiikey
Be sure to use the summ0ne fix on your v12 !

Christ spyman, i'm practically sold. I've ordered a triwing just to make sure what gen my wii is. Then i'm most likely going with canadamod.

Brand new Wii.

I am going to purchase a brand new Wii (from Target).

Is it safe to assume I will have the D2C/D2C2 chipset (and order the D2Pro9 V2 pre-soldered for the 9 pin configuration)? Or should I purchase the Wii first and enter my serial number against the version tracker?

Thanks in advance,

CJae

It'll definitely be a D2C and most likely a D2C v2... so a D2Pro v2 would be the wise choice (IMO)

Where's the best place online (which guarantees authenticity) to get the solderless d2prov2 (for d2c2)? Consider that It's getting to Bay Shore, NY.

I just placed an order on this website a few minutes ago. I'm crossing my fingers that everything goes real smooth.
Just to be on the save side I bought a triwing a couple weeks ago, and opened her up today. I was SUPER cautious and it took me around 45mins-1hour.

The most nervy part of opening the wii was unpluging the drive door. My fingers were having a tough time getting in the groove. And the pick kept slipping and I thought I might end up catching one of the wires.

So just after 3pm mountain time on a monday, 12.95 flat rate shipping. We'll see how long she takes to get here.

I just bought a brand new Nintendo Wii, just last week. I have modded my PS2 and Xbox but after that I have fallen behind in the modding world. I want to mod my Nintendo Wii because now I have children who has busted up many games of mine.

Got a few questions maybe someone can help me~

1. I have noticed some of my games, Mario Kart ex., requires an update before playing it. If I bring home a game, make a back-up, and play the back up, will the Wii know it is a backup and ruin my system? Would I have to update it first with the orginal?

2. This D2PRO9 + WiiClip/presoldered, so all I would have to do to install this is to open the Wii, insert the chip/clip and its Good to go?

3. Would any future problems appear with future games with this chip? If so, would I hurt the Wii by taking out the chip?

Thank you for those who took the time to read and not flame me for questioning.

Does anyone know how to update the chip if need be??
It comes with a flat ribbon cable and a red wire, is that what I use?
EDIT: nvm searched and found out....

@dynastyx:
1Aslong as you only update with the same region ex. NTSC with NTSC games and only PAL with PAL games, you should be fine as far as i know, I just modded my wii too
2 That is exactly what I did :)
3 Just pop it off and youll be fine, its not soldered to the wii at all

I'm a little confused by what you mean by #1. Can you clarify about the PAL/NTSC playing of games? If you put a PAL game in a US version it will throttle your Wii?

Okay I got my chip thursday. It took a total of 17 days to arrive. It cost 106 dollars after conversion rate and shipping. It was packed in a bubble envelope. The wiiclip was in a baggy. I snapped in on and it did make a click sound. tested it out. Seems to work pretty good.

Just got around to playing around today. Sealed up the wii carefully and placed it in my electronic rack.

Unfortunately now i'm running into problems. my backups read, often even start up. Get to the create gamefile menu. Finish. Start up the game and then 3 out of my 5 burns so far come up with an error. The other two I'll have to test further cause they require a nunchuck to actually get into gameplay. I'll test it out tomorrow. (left the nunchuck at a buddy's house).

So far abit frustrating. Now I'm wondering if its my burns (which I doubt) and worry more about having to re-open the wii and check the connection again.

Is there a system update to this mod chip I wonder. ... ? :o

If you have a D2Pro9, then yes there is a 1.4 update disc you can get from their website. I think it only fixes the SSBB dual layer problem though. Definetly sounds like bad discs if there loading up then getting an error later. Use verbatim (-R and +R both work for me), I burn with imageburn at 8x and haven't had one bad burn. I have used Memorex and TDK and had a few read errors like you described before.

Thanks for your tips.

Just did abit more messing around. Two of my five burns that would typically take me to the menu's just crapped out on me too. So I'm guessing its a bad connection. Oh man I was really hoping to avoid that. Definately going to try the update first as SSBB is one of the 5.

And I did update the console using the SSBB backup disk to 3.2U (which probably wasn't my smartest idea).

I'll report back any progress.

Okay downloaded the latest utility disk from d2pro.com

Interesting to note that it launches as a "GameCube" title. It also identifies what it is you have installed.

It informed me I have a d2pro9 v2.0 chip (which I assumed I did but wanted to make sure; so that was nice). It then prompted me that my 1.3 firmware was out of date, and it would proceed to update it to 1.5 firmware. It installed and upon reboot I relaunched the utility disk which now states that it is up to date.

I'm reassured that my chip is firmly connected. After all how could it have updated if it wasn't? No need to go re-opening my delicate install/reseal.

But with that said I'm still running into errors. My backups are still poping up with errors. When I tested the install on thursday the backup i checked it with was Twilight Princess. It seemed to be launching the game. It would get as far as starting a game and then request the nunchuck be plugged in.
And it does not even get to the title screen now. Just says Disk Error after the graphic on the wii channel screen appears normal and I launch it. Ugh... :(

I should also mention that it seems to play originals fine reguardless if they are wii or gc.

It doesn't load up my single layer disk although I've just read that they should typically be DVD-R , and I've been using +R.

And SSBB is burned onto the same type of Disks as 360 prefers. DVD+DL.

Should I be burning that one on DVD-DL? I was under the assumption that SmashBros didn't care, just as long as it was a DL burned at x2.4 or less.

Search the SSBB thread. You need to set the layerbreak in ImgBurn when you burn it. Mine didn't work the first time without doing that. I used a DVD+DL Verbatim disc. What brand of DVD discs are you using?

Today I updated my version of imgburn. But I was clever enough to uninstall it from the control panel first. Unfortunately that deleted where the layer break would normally be. The thought crossed my mind a couple of hours ago. Tried setting it back in and the memorex dl worked fine.

But now its making me wonder what i'll need to do to get the single layer games to work. Cause I can't burn them any slower then 1x. :o

thanks for your tips earlier.

Gotta use Verbatim man. You will have the best results with them. Any other brand is pretty much a shot in the dark. Stick with what every pro recommends, Verbatim.

Hello all,

Please excuse my ignorance as I am a bit new to modding. I bought a Wii from Target in June of 2008. I bought the D2PRO9 and installed it (without the cardboard thingee). I have burned about six games and am running into errors mentioned in this thread. For example, Mario Kart will startup and play, but certain tracks are not coming up. I am also getting other error messages.

* I did not perform any updates on the Wii prior to performing the MOD, so can I connect to my WiFi and get the updates without damaging my system AND not have Nintendo know I have a Modded system?

*I am using Imgburn and am burning at 2.4x...should I go to 1x?

I am planning on taking the Wii apart to ensure the clip/chip is on the board snug and to put in the cardboard protector.

Thanks for your input!

Well what brand for media are you using? Gotta use Verbatim!!! Also 1x may help, but in my situations, I have found 2.4x works better. Also I would check the files on the Mario Kart, some may be corrupted, maybe do another copy.

I have a quad processor with 6GBs of viper Ram running Vista 64Bit

Even still I do not attempt to do anything during read/burning of the games. This way it will ENSURE you that it has nothing to do with the copy itself and the problem most likely lies elsewhere.

Use Verbatim, take your time, and give it another shot.

Plus from what I hear, you don't necessary need to update from Wi-Fi, you can update as long as your using games that are NSTC (of course assuming you are from the United States)

What are the other games doing when you run into errors?
