how do u check the firmware of wii ? my wii cant play dragon quest . its a jap mod set. the dealer says it can play any game so whats wrong ? anyone ?

One issue at a time. You cant get into the settings. That means its a semi-brick. This can be fixed by updating with a japanese game that contains a newer firmware (mario kart and wii fit both have the newest firmware)

Updating the wiikey may not be necessary and is required only for fixing the 001 error. If you're receiving any other error besides 001 then updating the wiikey wont help.

OK first of all don't double or triple post.

Second of all what do you mean you cannot access it?

To check the firmware on your Wii just go to your Wii Settings. It should say in the top right corner. Since your Wii is JP it should say something like X.XJ- replacing the X with the firmware numbers.

To update your Wiikey chip to the latest (1.9s) just download the update, burn into a DVD, and put it inside the Wii. Look in the stickied for more info on how to do so.

It is recommended to only updated your Wii via game discs that are the same region as your Wii. So in your case only update with JP Wii games.

thanks for the fast responds . my is a mod chip do it mean it is wii key or are there chances of it being other chip i brought it from singapore
