My Wii is updated to latest firmware and so is my Wiikey.
Haven't had any issues whatsoever playing any backed up games.
Yesterday I put in Mario Kart backup which played fine in the past and the Wii is unable to read it. It doesn't show up in the disc channel. I eject, power off and restart. This time it shows up.
I start the game and it loads but then an error message to effect of 'Disc Read Issue. Eject disc, turn off wii and restart' pops up.
This happens several times in a row. The last time I couldn't even get the game disc to eject immediately. It took a couple power offs and me holding the eject button for a bit to get it to eject.
So I try it a 4th or so time and finally loads and i can play the entire game.
I also tried several other backed up games (Iron Man, Speed Racer, Okami, etc.) and they also had the same 'Eject/turn off, restart' issue.
Again, after some time they eventually worked.
Here's the kicker though. My buddy who I was playing online Mario Kart with had the exact same thing happen to him. He got the same 'disc read, eject, power off' message. Neither of us have had any issues in the past and we did nothing new to our systems.
My poor buddy, he can't get his disc to eject. Not sure what he's going to do.
Anyone had a similar situation at all?
It's very odd that we both were affected on the same day out of the blue.
What brand of dvds are you guys using.I had the same kind of things happen to me too.Sometimes no problem loading, then other times couldn't even get to the title screen.I was using GQ dvd+r from FRY'S.You get what you pay for.I switch to Taiyo Yudendvd-r.I read on the forum that the Wii's Laser is not that great. So it has a harder time trying to read cheap media.
We're both using Verbatim's. They've worked like a champ with no bad burns so far.
I did try some cheap Best Buy dvd's that blew and I had to throw them away.
I turned off WiiConnect24 and deleted the Mario Kart Channel for the hell of it and I encountered zero problems last night in loading any games.
My buddy did not do the above and he still has the problems. He was able to get his disc out last night, but after playing for 2 hours he encountered the same problem and again his disc is stuck.
