Has anyone tried "Qore" as yet? I was checking my mail and got an email about it from Playstation Underground. I don't have a credit card, so I was wondering how good it is. Also you guys can talk about whatever episodes and whatnot. :)
Here's basically what went through my head when I opened that email:
Aw cool this looks like it could be really interesting what is it like a PlayStation version of that game trailers show?
I'm definitely going to subscribe to that wait... wtf... it costs money??? what in the hell... god damnit...
Its not that I'm cheap its that I don't have access to a credit card and the fact that they're charging us for this in the first place seems ludicrous to me.
It's not to be confused to a Live subscription that is needed for online gaming etc. so it shouldn't be ludicrous. It is an E-Magazine with added benefits like behind the scenes stuff, HD previews & beta accessibility + more. Nothing to be compared to having to pay for online service or to be able to download demo's and so forth.
The PSN will not change or lose anything and you even have the option to only buy a 1 months sub or do the year at a discount just like PtoM, EGM, PSM3 and such. As a suggestion you could (if available where you live) buy a pre-paid credit card, like the all-access card by Visa from places like Western Union, 7/11 & Walmart. You do pay some fees but that is to be understood since you don't have credit yet and is part of the system. Hope that helps in description and possibilities for you.
Edit: Oops forgot to add one thing!
You can also use PSN cards, when they get released that is....

Yes I know that its behind the scenes stuff but I fail to see why we're paying to see game trailers now. And I have been impatiently awaiting the PSN cards for about 6 months now its really ticking me off. And prepaid cards are a rip-off my friend payed 35 dollars for a 30 dollar card and he only got to actually use about 18 of it after fee's.
Besides that the price they're asking for it is the same a normal magazine subscription so we're getting data for the same price we'd get a tangible magazine for. It would have to be pretty far out there for it to be worth it considering Sony wont have to pay for manufacturing costs like a normal magazine yet they cost the same.
I know its not a whole lot of money but when I step back and look at it I just feel that I'm getting ripped off.
It's understandable but to each his own. I think $25 for 13 months (less than $2 a month) of behind the scenes stuff and especially beta access without hassle is a pretty good deal, plus you get a Calling all cars for free and a hidden easter egg game when you press L2 on the main "page", it's a pretty cheesy game but it's still something additional.
I signed up for the year subscription and I think it was definitely worthwhile. Betas are cool and everything, but I really enjoy interviews with game companies even when I don't like the game. (Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Secret Agent Clank) The gameplay of Afro Samurai was really good looking too. The SOCOM theme was included along with a pass to the SOCOM beta. I expect that there will be something similar with each issue.
If you really just want to see the interviews, hit up youtube for the footage. I watched a little and decided it was worth the cash to see this in high def for the hassle of funding my account (my credit card is saved) and just clicking X a few times.
