Hello.

I recently got the wasabi chip and wii clip fo it to try and mod my d2b Wii which has the cut wires on the chip.

When i attached the clip i teted to see if the leds came on as they should and they did, red one first then off then the green one which stayed on.

I turned it off put everything back together and when i tried to stick one of my backups in it wouldn't read it.

It reads and plays the originals fine but anytime i try a backup all i get is the plane disk icon in the disc channel and when i click on it, it just says "Unable to read disk. Check the Wii Operations Manual for help trouble shooting".

I have burnt the disks at the lowest speed i could which using nero on Verbatim dvd-r 16x disks was 4 times.

I have tried another disk which could burn at 2x but no luck.

I have sent off for some Taiyo 8x disks to se if that makes any difference but if it doesn't does anyone know what the problem could be?

Do i need to do anything else apart from solder the chip to the clip and then just place it over the wii chip?

I've heard off it being able to be updated by dvd but can't see any link to any updates for it to give it a try.

I have done a search on this forum but couldn't find anything related to this specific problem and as far as i know the wasabi is the best chip to use on cut wired d2b chips, is this true or can i use other chips for it?

Any help would be greatfull.

If i get a result with the new disks i'll let you know but would be nice to find out what the problem could be before that.

Thanks.

Simon.

I have a sony DVD RW AW-G170A 1.71 brner if thats any help although i have read that you can use any burner to burn the disks.

You say you have a cut wire D2C? Only the D2B chipsets had cut wires. Make sure you're following the install diagram for D2B and not D2C.

Edit: Later on you say cut wire D2B so if the C earlier was a typo I apologize. :p

Just got some Taiyo disks and get the same problem.

I've also tried burning on a different burner using both Taiyo and Verbatim at the lowest burn speed that they would do but still no joy.

Even tried putting a long wire on the clk connection to see if that worked but it didn't.

Do you think joining the F points would make anydifference using the D2B chip?

Problem solved.

I saw on another site that they say you have to add the F wire even though the wasabi says you don't so i tried this and all works well.

Woo Hoo.
