i've heard people reflashing the drive to 12x.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

I'm having the same problem. It worked fine before- even beat the whole game with no texture loading problems. But after I stopped playing for like a week I decided to go back and just mess around the city. Same symptoms as the OP such as the car floating in mid-air.

I used MIS Verbatim DVD+R DL burned with ImgBurn at 2.4X speed. I'd rather not reflash my BenQ 8X iXtreme FW as the process was hell for me.

I tried clearing my HDD's cache but the problems persist. I'll try just burning a new copy.

Well, why did you flash it to 8X in first place. C4E releasing 5.3 with variable speed was biggest mistake he ever made.

only two things i would try are
1. Reflashing to 12X as suggested above since that is the stock read speed

2. burning the game at 4X, which may help but will probably not.

You know what I really have no idea. Probably because I thought that was just the default setting and I did not want to mess with the drive speed if it causes any problems.

I tried burning a new copy with no avail. I'll guess I'll reflash it later.
